The play entitled, “Cranberry Cor
ners was presented by the choir of
Bayfield in/the town hall on Friday
evening last, under the auspices of
the Mollard .Mission Circle of the
United church, The play was well
4?iven and greatly enjoyed by the
large 'audience. The Hensall High
School orchestra furnished excellent
music, during the evening. Be
tween acts Mr. S. Rennie sang a very
pleasing solo,jviolin selection by Miss
Greta Lammie and a dialogue 'by
Miss Katherine Drysdale and Master
Ray Patterson were well rendered.
Taking part were: Don McKenzie,
Harold Scotchmen, A. E. Irwin, Jas.
Sterling, Murray. Grainger, Brown
Stewart, Gladys Gale, Helen Gerrie,
Mrs. B. Stewart, Marie Granger, Do
rothy Scotcllimer, Ethel Sterling.
Mr. Ernest Bates left this week
for Stratford, where he has secured
a good position as salesman for an
automobile firm. Mr. Bates will
he greatly missed in Hensall, and as

partment, will be hard to be replac
ed. He also took the lead in all
kinds of sports. Mr. Bates has been
chief of the fire department, and
has built up a splendid organization,
Britain’s first army that she sent
to France was called by her enemies

big enemy in town, as the Dis-grun-
tled ones,
'Mrs, D, McLean is visiting with

Rev. Mr. Sinclair conducted the
services in Sarnia on Sunday last, it
being the re-opening of a new church there, the congregation of
which Mr, Sinclair was pastor a few
years ago,
Mr. Earl McEwan, who has been
visiting relatives here for a couple
of weeks, left on Thursday for Leth
bridge, to resume his duties in the
bank there. ‘
Mr, Arnold Bell, of Toronto, visit

The Council are having the ce
ment road all cleaned up, and now
presents a very nice appearance.
Mr, Alpine McEwan has rented
Dr, Mpir’s farm on the 3rd con. of
Hay, and is moving out immediate
ly to take charge.
Mr. Wm. Fairburn has rented the
farm of Mr. Wm. Simmons, of Hib
bert, and intends moving to the

Mr. John Young and son Jack, of
London, are visiting relatives in
town.Mr. Norman Cook, who has been
in London taking treatments for
health, has returned home.

Word was received of the very
sudden and. unexpected 'death on
Marcli 20th of Jeremiah Motz, son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Motz
of Crediton. He had gone to the
barn to do the chores for the night,
and dropped dead, being found later.

marriage to Mr, Frank E. Watson, of
River Rouge, Mich. The ceremony
was performed by Rev. Albert King
Morris, of Toledo. Mr. and Mrs.
Watson will have the congratulatons

den death of Wm. Worden took place
at the family residence in Stratford.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday
to Staffa cemetery. The sympathy of

Worden will be pleased to know he
is doing nicely after a critical opera
tion for antrum. Dr. Hunt, (spec
ialist) of London, performed the op

Mrs. Sam Webb has been ill for
a few days, but we are pleased to re-

troit, have returned and the former

Detroit girl and we welcome her to
our village.
The several questions answered by
the Pastor, Rev. J. M. Colling last
Sunday were answered to the satis
faction of all.

visited at the home of her aunt Mrs.
