Sanders, the retiring reeve, and Chas. B. Snell, appeal to the electors for their votes at the polls next Monday. Nominations for the various mun icipal offices were held at the Town Hall Monday at noon with Clerk J. Senior presiding. There was a good turn-out; a lively interest shown aud a big slate nominated, meeting adjourned until the evening 1 elected me for. when Mr. Senior again presided and the hall was nearly filled. AV. D. Sanders first was pre Reeve W. D. Sanders was the speaker and he said that he pleased that the council could _ sent a report that they need not be ashamed of. It was the result of earnest endeavor and strict applica tion. The best thing to boost a town is to show the people they are not taxed to death. His ambition the past four years had been to keep the taxes down. Some towns to-day are heavily in debt because they have been over boosted. .Speaking of the county council Mr. Sanders said it was a small par liament, spending over $300,000. At the time he represented Stephen Tp. the amount was about $80,000. Mr. Sanders again referred to the equal ization of the county when the ass essment of the urban municipalities was reduced fifty per cent, of the assessment placed upon valuators, which meant of about one thousand year. The county tax year Was 4 1-10 mills and this year it was 5 3-10 mills. The largest part of the expenditure of the county is for good roads. Last year the Exeter council pur chased a fire truck for $1300 that originally had cost $3500 and Exeter now hbd the best fire fighting equip ment itt Western Ontario.
