McDermid, of Goderich, presided. The Rev. T. W. Goodwill B.A., formerly of Cobourg, who was recently inducted into the pastoral charge of Blyth and Au burn, was introduced the court by the interim moderator. Rev. Alfred McFarlane, of Clinton. Mr. Good will begins his ministry in his new charge with a people who have won from Presbytery the finest express- -ions of praise for their courage, lo yalty and ligerality. The report on Overtures was in troduced by Rev. A. MacFarlane. An Overture to restore the status of ministers on the General Assembly’s Board of Administration to accord with the long constituted usuage of the Church, • of equal numbers of ministers and elders, was approved. An Overture that the General As sembly meet biennially instead of annually and that the powers of Sy nods be enlarged, was disapproved. An Overture that the word “sincere ly” qualifying the word “believe” be included in the formula to be sign ed at the ordination, or induction, or reception of a minister, was ap proved. The report of the Treasurer of Presbytery was presented by Mr. F. G. Weir, of Goderich, and the Audi tors report by Mr. Henry Strang, of Exeter. The books showed a bal ance over the expenditures of the year of $35.37. The allocations for the Presbytery Synod and General Asembly Fund were adopted to accord with those of the past ytar. Rev. R. C. McDermid laid the Bud get’ report before Presbytery, and showed the encouraging progress- and response upon the part of all congregations toward reaching a reasonable Budget amount of $7000 and complimented among others Ca- ven church, Exeter, for its splendid record in the ...upport of missions. Some time was given to the dis cussion of the Ministers’, Widows’ and Orphans’ Fund which is being placed upon an actuary basis by the General Assembly. The Fund is be ing re-organized and is to be known as the Pension Fund of the Presby terian church of Canada. The plan is to make the rates possible to all misisters of the church so that a minister who retires at) the close of 40 years of service will have a re tiring pension of $1000 per annum, and a minister’s widow $500 per an num. The discussion of the details of the plan was left over to a-later meeting. Authority was given Rev. A. Mac Farlane, interim moderator, to or ganize a Session in Brucefield con gregation. The Presbytery adjourned to meet in Clinton on the 3rd Tuesday of February at 10:30 a.m. --------------------- WHAT THE DR.
