Mrs. I. Hall, of Exeter North, is
leaving the latter part of this week
for Detroit to spend the winter with
her son and daughter. .
Mr. W. A.' Turnbull was critically
ill at his home last week but we are
pleased to report that he .is out of
danger and getting along nicely.
Miss L. M. Jeckell and sister Mrs.
Howe have left Exeter to spend the
winter with their brother Mr. R. C.
Jeckell, at Van Nuys, California.^
Mr. Clarence Down returned home
last week after spending some time
in the West. Before returning he
visited with Mr. and Mrs. C. Beck-
ler at Manson City, Iowa.
It was stated in the Times-Advo-
cate that Mr. G. Flynn had purchas
ed the residence of Mr. R. Hedden,
on Laughall St. It should have
read Mrs. W. McFalls.
There was skating at the rink Sat
urday evening for the first time this
season. Mr. F. M. Boyle, who will
have charge of the rink this winter*
had the ice in good condition. • ,
At the smoker Thursday evening,
at Bedford Hotel, Goderich, War
den Klopp was presented with an
address and gold-headed cane. The
address was read by Mr. J. W. Mc
Kibben and ■ the presentation made
by Mr. John L. McEwan.
A pleasant event took place at
the home of Mrs. Gordon Davis,
Rusholm Rd., Toronto, on Saturday,
December the 10 th, when she enter
tained in honor of Miss Alberta Hor
ton bride-elect in the form of a mis
cellaneous shower. Miss Horton was
the recipient of many beautiful gifts,
after which a buffet lunch was serv
ed in the dining room to about
twenty guests. Miss G. Marshall
poured tea and Miss Betty Brown as
sisted.
The weather has been quite change
able the past few weeks. At times
it has been very cold and frosty with
snow and at other times exceedingly
mild. Since Sunday it has been
very mild with rain on Tuesday. The
roads were in very muddy condition.
Shrubs and trees are in bud. A
lilac bush at Federal park is about
to break into leaf. On Wednesday
Mrs. W. McFalls-brought into the
office a well developed strawberry
that was nearly ripe when it was
nipped with the frost.

Man., arrived Tuesday

The annual meeting’of the Exeter
branch of the Ontario Plowmen’s
Association will be held on Saturday
December 17th at 2.30 p.m., in the’
town hall for the purpose of electing
officers, receiving reports and for
other business.
