The meeting was opened by singing hymn 93 after which all repeated the Lord’s Prayer. The Scripture Lesson was read by Gladys Luker after-xwhich the minutes of the last meeting were read, and adopted. Helen Glenn and Bella Smale sang a very pleasing duet. Hymn 91 was sung after which Mr. Sinclair led in prayer. Mr. Walter Schucking gave a very interesting topic on Holland. The offering-was then taken up followed by a violin selection by Miss Lammie. The meeting was closed by singing hymn 92 after which all repeated the Miz­ pah Benediction. The executive met at the close of the meeting. DEATH OF THOS. KYLE Thomas Kyle, a widely known resi­ dent of this district, died on Thurs­ day night at his home, near Kippen, in his 64th year. Mr. Kyle had lived in Tuckersmith Township for many years. Early in his life he went to the Canadian West, where he was most successful, returning to this district to live about 20 years ago. He is survived by his widow and two sons, William and Eiherson, and a {sister, Miss Alice, of HehsalL DEATH OF N. B. HORTON ■ There died oh’Thursday, Dec; 8th,- in. Moosejaw Hospital, Nicholas- B. Horton, fromerly of Hensall, in his 75th year. Mr. and Mrs. Horton, have been visiting for some time in the city of . Moosejaw where Mr.. Dougall 10 6 COUNCIL MEETING ofThe regular monthly meeting thQ village council was held on Mon­ day evening of this week, with all the members present and the reeve, in the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted on motion of Cameron and Consitt. Mr. J. W. Ortwein and Mr. Wm. Jones were present at the meeting and interviewed the council as the council taking over the former Meth­ odist church shed and making it a community shed. Mr. Ortwein stat- I ed that the trustees of the United church had met and talked the mat­ ter over and had appointed Mp. Ort­ wein and Mr. Jones to interview the council. Mr. Ortwein stated that the shed was getting out of 'repair and also needing lighting and pbl'ide? Supervision and offered to have the cownshed property transferred to the town to be used as a Community shed. The different members of the council discussed th'e, ’matter , With Mr, Jones and Mr. OrtWeih. Coun­ cillor Higgins moved that the council accept the offer of the trustees of the United church and that Reeve Geiger, Councillors Cameron and Consitt- be a committee to meet a committee of the United” church trustees to arrange the detals of the transfer. This motion was second­ ed by councillor Priest and carried. Communication was received from Mrs. Alice Joynt asking that her dog tax be refunded*her dog having died in July. As Mrs. Joynt had the dog for at least half of this present year no action was taken by the council. A communication from Libby, Mc­ Neal & Libby, of Chatham, asking for a refund on Taxes on their plant which was moved away early in the summer. It was decided by the council to accept half of their year's taxes for a settlement. A communi­ cation from Miss Kate McEwan was road as to water from the Thos. Welsh drain flooding her land and asking for relief, The reeve pro* mised to discuss the matter with Mr Welsh. The Clerk said he had noti­ fied the Tuckersmith Township Council as to the cost of the Hensall Fire Department going to a number of-fires in Tuckersmith township ‘and put in a bill for $30.00 foi' i chemicals and other expenses that Christmas Tree and'Entertainment at the United church oil' Wednesday, December 2,1st. The Senior and Junior Christian Endeavor Society meetings have been postponed for la few weeks, since their time is being taken up with Christmas practicing. The windows of our stores are be­ ginning to present a gay appearance. The Christmas season is on and it is in keeping with the spirit of the day. Horton have received sad news of his death which took place on Thursday morn­ ing last in Moose jaw, Sask. Mr., Hor­ ton had been a great sufferer ftfr a number of years with inflamatory rheumatism. He was of a bright cheerful disposition and although he suffered for years a great deal of pain, he was hardly ever heard to- complain. Mr. Edward Ford, who has been here for a week visiting his friends returned to his home in N. Dakota. Mr. and Mrs. John' Bolton and. Miss Victoria motored to Stratford last Saturday to spend the day. Miss Maude Glenn, who has been visiting her old friends, left here i Monday morning for Atlantic Citjf where she will spend the winter.
