T. L. was held in the school room at the library on Tuesday, October 25th at 4.15 in the afternoon. The pres­ ident, Olive Lawson was in charge of the meeting. Forty-three child­ ren were present. After the pro­ gram’lunch Was served to the child­ ren by Mrs. J> Miners, Mrs. McTavish. and Miss E, Shapton. A hearty vote^ of thanks v was-.tendered the ladies for the'-luhch) moved by Mavis Spen­ cer and seconded by Jean Stanbury, after which the children marched out in order singing “The Army of Temperance is Gathering its M6ri.” RECEPTION AT MEAFORD “Many Meaford ladies took ad­ vantage of the opportunity of meet- and welcoming Mrs. M. E. and Mrs. W. E. Gardiner, when they received for the first time since coming to Meaford, on Thursday afternoon last from three to six o’clock. Assisting in receiving and. introducing the guests were Mrs. E. W. Raymond and Mrs. C. C. Johnston, while Mrs. O. A. Keffer and Mrs. Thos. Snow­ don ushered the gusets to the charm­ ing living and dining rooms, Mrs, H. N. Rev. D. McTavish is dean of the school. The local clergy will take part in the opening exercises to which the public is. invited. On Wednesday evening the orchestra of James Street church will lead the singing. On Thursday evening the orchestra of Caven church and on Friday evening the .orchestra of Main Street church. There will be a general sing song from 7 o’clock until 7.30 and then a half hour pro­ gram before the school goes into session each evening. Last- year’s results were excellent. arid this year a larger attendance is expected. Pethich, of Seaforth, has purchased the corner property in Exeter North the corner site of £he old McTaggart Hotel. Mr. Pethick is having a gas station erected on the site. " •• M'r. and Mrs. Mervyn E. Camm, of Bridgeburg, spent the holidays with the former’s parents in town. Mervyn reports business at the Niagara frontier to be exceptionally good and is considering the opening of • a branch store in the spring. At the auction sale of the real estate- and chattels of the late Rev. J. D. Kestle on Saturday. the house and property was purchased by Mr. Louis Beaver, of Woodham; the price paid being $3000. COLE, DRUGGIST * A VISIT FROM LADY WILLISON Lady Willison, of Toronto, widow of the late Sir John WillisOn,, was a pleasant caller at the Times-Advo­ cate office on Tuesday afternoon. Lady Willison was on her way back to London after a visit to Hillsgreen the birthplace of her late husband. Sir John during his early life, was for a short time engaged in what was then the Exeter Times office under the late John White, mention of which is made in his memoirs.’ At that time the paper was printed on a hand press. Lady Willison was interested in seeing • the office in which her distinguished husband had worked for a short time. PRESENTATIONS On Thursday evening of last week a goodly gathering of Main Street United church people gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Spencer, previous to their moving to Hensail to spend a social time to­ gether. During the course of the evening Mr. G. S. Howard read an address and Mrs. E. Willis present­ ed Mr. Spencer with a fountain pen and Mrs Spencer with a bible. Hill, thresher, had his left arm badly cut and was brought to the Exeter hospital where he is getting along nicely.
