Carmel, on Wednesday, August 10th, afternoon and evening- Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Sheere and daughter Jean have returned hqme after a motor trip to Stayner, Toron­ to and Whitby. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Walker and babe, of Teeswater, spent the week­ end with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Birney. Miss Hilda Sims is assisting at Senior’s Studio for a few weeks. Hilda is a student of Clinton School of Commerce and has finished her. course. Mr. W. E. Widmer, of Windsor, has taken over the agency of the I- H. C. in town and has rented the dwelling of Miss B. Howey on An­ drew St. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Wallace, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Miss Lucy Wallace, of Brockport, N.Y., were the guests for the past week with Dr. and Mrs. E. S. Steiner. Miss B. Howey, who has rented her residence on Andrew’ St. to Mr. W,J E. Widmer, held an auction sale of effects on Saturday and left this week for London. Messrs. Thos. Laing, WmZ Snell, Archie Davis and Silas Reid, return­ ed Monday after spending several days on a fishing trip in the Bruce peninsula. They report a fine time and “lots of ‘fish- Mr. Ernest Wells has returned from Windsor and has taken a pos­ ition as truck driver with M’r. H. Bagsligw. Mr. Bagshaw has three trucks operating between Exeter, London and Windsor. Mrs. C. A. Southcott and Miss Stella'left Saturday for Grand Bend where they will occupy a cottage during the month of August- The former has not been well ■ for the past three months but is improving. He left for that place on Thursday. Mr. L. Victor ‘ Hogarth, of the Baby Chick Hatchery here is attend­ ing, as accredited delegate, the World’s Poultry*-Congress at Ottawa and incidently taking part in the re­ ception being given to the Prince of Wales, Prince George and Premier Baldwin this week. Mr. and Mfrs. E- H. Senior and daughter Doris, of Toronto, and Mr, Maurice Senior, motored up Satur­ day and spent the, week-end with Mr. and Mrs. J. ‘ Senior. Master Thomas and Miss Harriet Senior, who have been visiting for two weeks with their grandparents here return-? ed home with them. Miss Edith M. Hill, of Rectory St- London entertained at a trousseau tea Wednesday afternoon. Turnbull, who has been ill in Victoria Hospital,'London, un­ derwent an operation on Saturday last and at present is- getting along as well as can be expected. Mrs. Turnbull and Miss Isabelle spent the week-end with him. Mr. Earl Russell and sister Miss Edna Russell, Messrs. Kervin Wern­ er, and Milton Hey, of Detroit, mot­ ored over on Saturday. Miss Rus­ sell is spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Beer. Mr- Hey and Mr. Werner are spending the week in Zurich. Union services of the Main St. and James St. United congregations have been held during the month of July in the James St. church con­ ducted by Rev. J. C. Moorhouse, of Main St. Large congregations have been present for the services and the sermons by Mr. Moorhouse have been well received and much appreciated. Durhig August the services will be held in Main St, church conducted by Rev. D. McTavish. Mr. McTavish has been holidaying Vith relatives near Ripley. During the month of July Rev. W. Jones has co-operated with Rev. H. Naylor, of Hensail, in conducting services. Services have been con­ ducted in Trivitt Memorial church each Sunday morning and at Staffa and Hensall afternoon and evening conducted by Mr. Jones while Mr/ Naylor has been on vacation, ing August the Trivitt church and Mr. Naylor ening service, and family will _ ___ __ ______ at Walters Falls in Grey County.
