Mrs. David Lippert, of Melbourne, Ont., spent a few days last week with her mother, Mrs. Lydia Sweitzer. Mrs. J. B. Hill and daughter, Miss Birdie Hill, of Calgary, Alta., are vis­ iting at the home of Mr. J. S. Harvey. Mrs. Wm. Aidworth and daughter Miss Iva, of Minneapolis, Minn., are visiting with relatives in this com­ munity. Airs. Laverty and son. Howard spent the week-end with relatives and friends at Springbank at a musical contest. The Salvation Army held their an­ nual picnic at Springbank on Thurs­ day of last week. They had a very jolly time. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Box, of Sylvana Ohio, visited with the former’s uncle Mr. Chas. Box and wife during the past week. ’ o Mr. Walter Cutbush, who is assist­ ing with the mason work of a large church near St. Thomas, spent the week-end at his home here. Mr- and M"rs. B. M. Francis, Messrs. J. S. Dignan and E. M. Dig- nan motored to Pt. Stanley, Wednes­ day, to attend a blacksmiths’ picnic. Mr. Lower and chauffeur from Laporte, Ind., who have been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. J. Taylor, Ann St., the latter being his daughter, left Monday for their home. Miss Ruby Creech has been suc­ cessful in securing her first class teachers’ certificate at the Stratford ’Normal School. She has been en­ gaged to teach at Corbet school in Stephen. Mr. Frank Johns motored up from Toronto on Saturday and on Monday he was accompanied home by his wife and two sons, who have been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. W- Johns since the First. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rousom, of To­ ronto, are holidaying with the lat­ ter’s parents, Mr- and Mrs. W. J. Bissett. Mrs. Bissett, who has been on an extended visit to Toronto, re­ turned to Exeter with them. Messrs. Ulric Snell and Gordon Hunter are this week attending ?, conventio.n of automobile dealers as guests of the General Motors. They are visiting in Toronto, Oshawa and also the proving grounds at Milford, Mich. Mr. C- McAvoy, of Wingham, ac­ companied by Mrs. Dawson, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Stapleton and Miss McKin­ non, motored down and spent Sun­ day with his mother and other re­ latives. Mr. and Mrs. Thos- Thompson, of Toronto, have been visiting with friends and relatives in and around Exeter. Their son-in-law, Mr. B. J. Sutherland and wife motored up from Toronto Saturday and are vis­ iting with relatives. Mr. Ed. Aidworth who has had charge of a circuit for the United church at Springside, Sask., returned home on Tuesday of last week. Mr. Aidworth will attend" Toronto Uni­ versity next term. Mrs. Roger North- cott, who has been on an extended visit in the West returned home with him. Mr. Czar Harness and bride ar­ rived home Monday evening after a wedding trip of nearly three weeks by motor to Hamilton, Niagara Falls Peterboro and other places. The young people of town serenaded them the same evening and presented them with a handsome electric reading lamp. The regular monthly meeting of the James St. W.M.S. was held in the school room of the church Thurs­ day afternoon with the president presiding. Mrs. Miners presented an interesting program. Miss Essery rendered a pleasing solo which was appreciated by all. Plans were made for a social afternoon for the mothers and babies of the congregation. The Border Cities Star published a picture of a Rdo runabout that was manufactured 21 years ago and Was last week driven from Toronto to Windsor.
