Wesley-Willis United Church met
Tuesday evening, October 27, in
the church baSement with 12 pre-
sent. Two quilts were tied and one
quilted. Mrs. William Murch was
in charge of the meeting after
which lunch was served by the
hostesses, Mrs. Gordon Steepe and
Mrs. Kenneth Johnston,

Legion Gives Prizes
At Hallowe'en Party
First prize for best costume
at the Hallowe'en dance in Clin-
ton Legion Memorial Hall on Sat-
urday night, were Mr. and Mrs.
Reg. Smith, who came as a pair
of Zulu natives, Second prize was
won by Mr, and Mrs. Kenneth
Williams, who were dressed as
a witch, and an Indian.
Mr. and Mrs. Hector Kingswell
were dressed' as a Dutch couple
to win third prize, and Mr. and
Mrs. William Craig as raggedy an-
ns, placed fourth. Best comic cos-
tune was 'the ballerina attire of
Douglas Andrews.
Judges of the competition were
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rutherford,
Leslie. Nice and Reg. Cudmore.

Regular Meeting
The Thankoffering meeting of
Wesley-Willis Woman's Mission-
ary Society was held in the lec-
ture room of the Church on Fri-
day, October 23 at 8 p.m., with
Mrs. C. Nelson presiding. A let-
ter was read from Cape Croker
thanking the WMS for the bale
sent this fall. On Friday, Novem-
ber 13 a film on Africa will be
shown.
Offering .was received by Mrs.
P. Livermore and Mrs. W. Murch
followed by prayer. Mrs. L. Jer-
vis offered prayer, Mrs. Donald
Andrews sang a solo.
Mrs. B. Sutter introduced the
guest speaker for the evening,
Mrs. E. McLagan, Blyth, who
gave an account of their work in
the north and how the people
live (mostly farming). Also she
spoke of the big help the bales•
are for there is need of clothing.
Piano solo was played by Mrs.
E. Radford and a piano duet by
Mrs. Radford and Miss Lois
Grasby. The hostess committee
served lunch and a social hour
followed.

in officers training course at Cen-
tralia. During this course F/L
G, E, Grant, from Centralia, is
at Station Clinton several days
a week, assisting with the work
in connection with the Roman
Catholic chapel there.
When Mr, and Mrs, Charles
Brown, 201 Albert Street, Clinton,
celebrated their 20th wedding an-
niversary on Sunday, October 25,
they had as their guests, Mr. and
Mrs. F. Lewis and Ruth Ann, Long
don; Mrs. Yvonne Bergen, Los
Angeles, Calif.; Miss H. Black,
Kitchener; Mr. and Mrs. Willis
VanEgmond, Mr. and Mrs. J. Van-
Egmond, Miss Lois. Grasby and
Mrs. Leslie Ball.
Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Trewartha
returned two weeks ago from a
flight to Edmonton, Alberta, then
north 150 miles to Lac la Biche,
to visit their daughter's family,
Mr. and Mrs. (Wilhelmin) H.
G. Mawson, Sheila 7, and Helen 4.
On their return from La Biche
they spent Thanksgiving Day at
a family gathering at the Maw-
son's home •in Edmonton. They
feel that airplanes offer the most
satisfactory, comfortable and ec-
onomical mode of travel.
Kinette Club Has
Court Whist Party
At Legion Hall
A Court Whist party was held
at the Clinton Legion Hall on
Tuesday night by the Clinton Kin-
ette Club, with Mrs. Donald Epps
and Mrs. Maitland Edgar welcom-
ing guests. The theme of the
evening was Hallowe'en and ev-
ents were arranged by Mrs. Don
Kay, Mrs. Harry McEwan and
Mrs. William Chowen. Mrs. Percy
Brown was lunch convener.
Winners of the high and low
prizes were Mrs. Ross McEwan
and Mrs. Garnet Harland, Mrs.
David Dales won the door prize,
a cake, donated by one of the
Kinettes. Tickets were sold on a
doll and it was won by Mrs. Jack
Scruton. A buffet dessert luncheon
was enjoyed.
