Edward W. Farquhar
Funeral service was held Mon-
day afternoon, October 26 in the
Ball and Mutch funeral home, 153
High Street, Clinton, for Edward
Wilfred Farquhar, King Street,
who died suddenly late Friday
evening in Clinton Public Hospi-
tal. The Rev. D. J, Lane offic-
iated.
Pall-bearers were Waldby Bur-
ton, William Blacker, Hubert
Reynolds, Howard Brunsdon,
Howard Cowan and Alex Cud-
more, Flower-bearers were Ross
Hoggart, Jack McCann, Jack
Clegg, Murray East, John Turner
and Clarence Neilans. Interment
was in Clinton Cemetery.
Born in Hullett Township on
October 2, 1889, Mr. Farquhar
was a son of the late George
Farquhar and Margaret Straug-
han. He married Margaret Shep-
herd on December 24, 1919, and
they farmed in Hullett Township,
retiring to Clinton nine years ago.
He was an elder in St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church.
A brother Howard and a sister
Laura predeceased bim,
Surviving besides his wife are
one son, Douglas, on the home-
stead; two daughters, Mrs. James
(Lois Margaret) Turner, and Miss
Mildred McKillian Farquhar, both
of Clinton; one brother Mervyn,
Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs.
Alex Eagleson, Oklahoma City,
Okla.; Mrs. Joseph (Elsie) Clegg,
Clinton and four grandchildren.
Persons attended the funeral
from Blyth, Goderich, London,
Detroit and Pontiac, Mich.

The many friends of Mrs. Edith
Galbraith were sorry to hear of
her accident and removal to Clin-
ton Public Hospital.
Several from here attended the
executive meeting of the Huron
County Temperance Federation in
Clinton last Friday evening when
plans were made for the fall rally
to be held in November.
Rally day was observed in the
United Church last Sunday even-
ing with the pastor, the Rev. T.
J. Pitt in charge.
The ladies of the Woman's AS-
sociation of the United Church are
holding their annual bazaar in the
township hall on Saturday, Octob-
er 31.

Jean Cairns, Seaforth, were week-
end visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Ross Scott, attending church an-
niversary services.
Mrs. Elsie Forrest, London, vis-
ited with Mrs. A. McQueen and
Margaret for a few days.
Mr, and Mrs. Lawrence Smiley,
Erin, spent Sunday with Mr, and
Mrs. Gordon Elliott.
Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Thomson
and daughter, Sarnia, were guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Thomson
on Sunday,
Rev. C. D. Daniel and Mrs.
Daniel, Ingersoll, were guests of
the Rev. and Mrs. S. Davison over
the weekend, Mr. Daniel was guest
preacher at the church anniver-
sary services.
Miss Beth Murdoch spent a few
days with Misses Ellen May and
Ina Scott, London.
Victor Hargreaves had a mis-
fortune to injure the ligament in
his 'arm while working with a
sick animal in the barn.
Mrs. Alton Johnston, Seaforth;
Mrs. J, Horton, Hensall and Mrs,
William Sinclair, Clinton, attend-
ed anniversary services in Bruce-
field and spent the day with Mrs.
H, Berry,
MIDDLETON
The Women's Auxiliary of St.
James Church, Middleton, will
meet Wednesday afternoon, Nov-
ember 4 at the home of Mrs. B.
McCullough. The roll call word
is "Lover' and there will be a
quilt.
Change In Time
Commencing Sunday, Novemb-
er 1 and continuing through the
fall and winter months, services
in St. James Church, Middleton,
will be held at 2.30 p.m., with
Sunday School held during the
church service time.
Newlyweds Honoured
On Saturday evening, October
24, many friends and neighbours
of the Bayfield Line and commun-
ity gathered in SS 10 (Fairmont)
schoolhouse to honour Garth Pes-
ti and his bride, the former Miss
Patricia Bender, Clifford, who
were married in Wingham United
Church on September 19.
There were nine tables of eu-
chre and the ladies high prize
was won by Miss Catherine Welsh,
ladies low by A. Middleton; the
men's high prize and prize for the
most lone hands were both won
by Joseph Storey and the men's
low prize by M. Brandt.
The highlight of the evening
was the presentation to the pop-
ular young couple of a lovely wal-
nut coffee table and two match-
ing step-up end tables. The ad-
dress was read by Robert Stirl-
ing and the gifts presented by
Robert Welsh and Robert Rath-
well, Garth thanked his friends
fittingly for their lovely gifts.
'Me ladies then served a bounti-
ful lunch. About 65 persons at-
tended this party and all report

Happy Workers Club
Plan Their Fall Bataar
Thursday evening, October 8,
the Happy Workers met at the
home of Wilhelnnna Hoornart.
The meeting opened with the
opening ode followed by the Lord's
Prayer. It was moved by Mrs.
Kenneth Williams and Mrs, Wil-
liam Holland that the group give
$5 to the CNIB,
A banquet was discussed but
was dropped until a later date.
Aprons and other articles were
priced for the bazaar on October
31 at 2.30 p.m. in the council
chamber, Committees were or-
ganized for the bazaar.
Lunch was served by the host-
ess assisted by Mrs. Wilfred Glaz-
ier, Mrs. Kenneth Johnston and
Mrs. Holland.
The November meeting will be
at the home of Mrs. Holland in
the afternoon, November 12, A
bale will be packed so please
bring clothing. Mrs. Van Den
Dool, Mrs. Hoorn:art and Mrs.
Warren Gibbings will be the lunch
committee.
