home on Sunday after enjoying a
motor trip through the central Un-
ited States,
Mr, and Mrs, Gordon Cuning-
hame left early in the week to
make an extended Thanksgiving
visit in the home of their son-in-
law and daughter, Mr, and Mrs.
Arthur Saunders in Sarnia, Their
visit will also include the cele-
brating of their 44th wedding
anniversary.

Baptist Church Has
77th Anniversary
The 77th anniversary service of
Clinton Baptist Church was held
Sunday, October 4, with good at-
tendances at both services, Ap-
propriate addresses were given in
the morning by John Agulian,
pastor, and in the evening by the
Rev. Mr. Scott of Hope Baptist
Church, London. Young people's
choir sang special music with a
guest soloist in the evening. The
congregation look forward to a
better and greater work in the
future.

October 13 at 8 p.m. in the church

About 'Teen. Town
The October meeting of Wesley-
Willis Woman's Association was
held in the church parlor with
the president Mrs. M. Nediger in
the chair. Mrs. Hearn read the
Scripture lesson, Mrs. Les Ball
gave the thoughts on the lesson
and Miss Ida Walkinshaw led in
prayer.
An invitation was received from
the Catholic Women's League to
join with them at their Rectory.
Tea. It was voted to send $25
to Sing Time at Wingham. It
wa's decided to buy a large used
refrigerator for the church and a
new larger one for the manse,
It was decided to send a letter
'to town council and the Lions
Club re conduct of 'Teen Town
meetings and collegiate students
driving on the streets 'at noon
hour. Safety of children on streets
was feared.
Plans were made and commit-
tees formed for the annual
Country Fair, October 24.
It was announced that the
WMS sectional meeting would be
in Constance on October 21, af-
ternoon and evening,
Mrs. Douglas Andrews gave two
interesting readings, entitled
"Which are you?" and "I can't
go to church on Sunday."
A social hour was spent with
Mrs. Kfosh's group in charge,

Won by Local Team,
Mrs. Boyes, Skip
The Ladies' Lawn Bowling Club
held the annual Walter Newcombe
Trophy Tournament here on Wed-
nesday, September 30. A large
turnout from Goderich, Wingham,
Sarnia and Seaforth were present.
The trophy was won by Mrs. Bert
Boyes, skip, and Mrs. H. G. Man-
ning and Mrs. W. Nott, vice-skip
with three wins' and a plus of 16.
Second prize was won by Mrs.
Al. Close, Seaforth, with three
wins and a plus of 15. Mrs. Mac-
Intyre, Wingham, was third and
Mrs. Candlass, Sarnia, fourth.

For November 14
Mrs. J, B. Levis presided for
the meeting of Ontario Street
United Church Woman's Associa-
tion on Tuesday afternoon, Octob-
er 6 in the church parlor. Mrs.
B. Radford was at the piano.
Mrs. Ray Fear led the devo-
tional on "Thanksgiving", Mrs.
E. Welsh read the secretary's re-
port and Mrs. George Potter gave
the treasurer's and flower report,
Mrs. C, Elliott read the corres-
pondence, Mrs, E. Welsh read
the bills and communications and
reports of all other committees
were given by the conveners.
Plans were made for the bazaar
on November 14, and a slate of
officers for 1960 will be brought
in at the November meeting.
Mrs. Harry Ball gave an inter-
esting talk and explanation of a
trip she and her husband had
early this summer to different
parts of Europe and along the
Mediterranean Sea,
During the social hour, lunch
was served by ladies of Highway
4 north and concessions 1 and 2
of Hullett Township.

Rebekahs Collect
For NIB on Tag
Day; Fund Still Short
Collections last weekend in the
tag day staged by the Rebekah
Lodge of Clinton raised $159.31 for
the Canadian National Institute
for the Blind. Mrs. George Beat-
tie was chairman of this effort.
The tag day exceeded expecta-
tions, and the ladies prepared tags
during the afternoon to keep up
with the demand.
Canvassers were Mrs. Carman
McPherson, Mrs. Cale Doucette,
Mrs. Garnet Harland, Mrs. Merritt
Nediger, Mrs. Wesley Holland,
Mrs. Clarence Sturdy, Mrs. Bert
Rowden, Mrs, Douglas Andrews,
Mrs. Violet Habgood, Mrs. Jack
Hamilton, Mrs. Clarence Ball, Mrs.
John Broadfoott, Mrs. William Fo-
theringham, Mrs. James Cox and

Mrs. George Beattie.
Total objective for Clinton this
year is $650. W. V. Roy, who is
chairman of the campaign in the
town, reports that, including re-
ceipts of the tag day, the total is
still more than $200 short of the
objective,

The London Road Club met at
the home of Mrs. Managhan. Roll

Mrs. Anderson had charge of a
program of readings and a con-
test. Lunch was served by Mrs.
C. Magee and Mrs. Guetter, as
by Mrs. Managhan.
The next meeting will be at the
home of Mrs. Anderson on Octob-
er 15. Hostesses will be Mrs. Col-
lins and Mrs. Managhan. There
will be a sale of baking and home-
grown produce.
