A very pleasant social evening
was held in SS No. 9 Schoolhouse
(Tipperary), on Saturday evening,

gathered to honour two young
men and their brides, Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Dutot, and Mr, and
Mrs. David 'Middleton,
There, were nine tables of eu-
chre and the ladies high prize was
won by Mrs. Alvin Dutot and the
men's high prize by David Middle-
ton.
411he ladies low prize was won
by E. Wise .and the men's by S.
Grigg. Bert .Rowden. won the.
prize for the most lone hands.
Following cards, an address was
read to the two young couples by
Ray Wise and was signed on be-
half of the Middleton Church pea-
pie by Alf Hudie and James Stor-
dey.
Mr. and Mrs, Dutot were given
a lovely clipped sheepskin rug in
pastel shacks and a tri-lite lamp
Mrs. Valentine Wild
Requiem High Mass was sung
in St. Peter's Roman Catholic
Church, St. Joseph, on Saturday
morning, by the Rdv. Father I. J.
Poisson, for Mrs. Valentine Wild,
the former Bridget Agnes O'Sul-
livan. Assisting were the Rev. L.
E. Reed-Lewis, Clinton, and Fath-
er Sullivan, Seaforth,
Mrs. Wild passed away in Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, on
Wednesday, September 30, in her
86th year. Born in St. Columban,
she lived her entire married life
in Stanley Towship. Her husband
predeceased her 30 years ago.
The deceased was a member of
the Catholic Women's League of
St. Peter's R. C. Church.
Surviving are three sons: Jo-
seph, Clinton; Louis and John,
both of Stanley Township; one
daughter, Veronica, Mrs, Oscar
Priestap, Clinton. Another dau-
ghter, Mary, Mrs. Anthony Etue,
predeceased her 18 years ago.
Interment was made in St.
Peter's R.C. Cemetery. Westlake
funeral home, Zurich, was in
charge of arrangements.

on Christmas Day, 1635; he was
buried within the city's walls but
the exact location of his grave
remains a mystery.

OBITUARIES
Mrs. Angus Welch
Funeral service was conducted
on Thursday afternoon, October 1,
from the Ball and Match funeral
home, 153 High Street, Clinton,
by the Rev, E. J. B, Harrison, for
Lillian, Hudie Stirling Welch, who
passed away suddenly Saturday
morning, September 26, at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. W. E.
Vrooman, 213 9th Ave. South,
Port Alberni, BC.
Pallbearers were George Em-
merson, Fred Middleton, Fred Ha-
die, George Hudie, Robert Cole
and Robert Stirling. Flower-bear-
ers were Robert Watson, Leslie
Jervis and Dr. R. H. Cole.
Born in McKillop Township on
January 17, 1878, She was the
daughter of William Hudie and
Liza Jane Cantelon. She married
Mason Stirling in 1899 and lived
for over 40 years in Goderich
Township on the farm where her
son William Stirling now resides.
Mason died in 1932 and a daugh-
itner,19trs. John (Muriel) Watson
In 1942 she married Angus Wel-
ch, Toronto, and lived there until
his death in 1956, when she went
to live with her daughter in Port
Alberni, B.C.
She was an Anglican.
Surviving are one son, W. H.
Stirling, Goderich Township; one
daughter, Mrs. W. C. (Dorothy)
Vrooman, B.C., one brother, Clar-
ence Hudie, Seaforth; one sister,
Mrs. R. B. Cole, Clinton, and
seven grandchildren.
Attending the funeral from a
distance included Mr. and Mrs.
Lionel Goodwin, St. Thomas; Mrs,
Kenneth Watt, George Wilson,
Mrs. Lillian Morgan, Mrs, Ruby
Scone, Port Stanley; Mr. and Mrs..
Jack MacGregor, Mrs, Agnes Fes-
ter, Clarence Baker and Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Baker, all of Tor-
onto; Mrs. Annie Morgan and
Mrs. I. Spearin, Kincardine; A, C.
Vrooman, Sarnia; Mr. and Mrs.
D, Johnston, Brantford and Dr. R.
H. Cole, London.

married in Wesley-Willis United Church, Clinton, on
Saturday, September 12, by the Rev. J. A. McKim. The
bride is Marilyn Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Wilbur
Martin, Clinton and the groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Norman Smith, Thorndale.
