CGIT Organized
Miss Barbara Woodruff, dea-
coness of Knox Presbyterian
Church, Goderieh, was the guest
speaker last week to the 'teen,-
-eV girls in the Sunday School
room. of Knox Presbyterian. Ch-
urch here, for the first meeting
of the CGIT group, Mrs, Wes.
Bradnock was in charge and Mrs.
Duncan MacKay was at the piano.
Scripture lesson was read by
Barbara Sanderson, followed by
prayer by Carole Brown. A piano
solo was played by Barbara Mac-
Kay and a. solo was sung by
Margaret. Raines.
Offering was received by Linda
Andrews and the offertory pray-
er given by Rose Marie Haggitt,
Miss Woodruff gave an inter-
esting talk on the meaning of
CGIT and spoke of the purpose.
She 'explained each phrase and
told the girls why they should all
be in training.
She took charge of the election
of officers which resulted as fol-
lows: president, Barbara Sander-
son; vice-president, Jannett Dob-
ie; secretary, Margaret Haines;
treasurer, Carole Brown; pianist,
Barbara Mackay; social commit-
tee, Linda Andrews, Marilyn Daer
and Rose Marie Haggitt.
Mrs. Donald Haines, president
of the Women's Missionary Soc-
iety brought greetings from that
organization. Roll call for the
next meeting is to be answered
by a name for the CGIT. The
CGIT will meet the second and
fourth Tuesdays of each month at
7.30 p,m, The closing prayer was
given by Marilyn Deer. A delic-
ious lunch was served to the girls
and the mothers who were the
guests,
Woman's Association Meets
Mrs, R. Koopman's and Mrs. Bak-
ker were the guest speakers when
the Woman's Association of Knox
United Church met in the Sunday
school room for their first meet-
ing of the fall season. The Orchid
group was in charge and Mrs. Er-
nest Durnin called the meeting to
order. Mrs. William J, Craig was
at the piano, Mrs. Harold Gross
read the Scripture lesson.
Miss Margaret R, Jackson pre-
sented the meditation and led th
prayer, A vocal duet was hung
by Mrs, William T. Robison and
Mrs. William J. Craig accompan-
ied at the piano by Mrs. Norman
Wight/Ian.
Mrs, Koopmans and Mrs. Bak-
ker spoke on their recent trip to
Holland. Mrs. Koopmans read a
thank-you note from Mrs. Koop-
man's parents for the gift which
the WA had sent them on the oc-
casion of their 55th wedding an-
niversary which she had attended
in her home-land. Both ladies ex-
pressed the opinion that Canada
was a wonderful country to return.

Bell-McClinchey
Varna United Church was the
scene on Saturday afternon, Sep-
tember 26, for the wedding of
Joan Elizabeth Ann McClinchey
and Donald Lawrence Bell, Bay-
field. Tne bride is the daughter
.of Mr, and Mrs. Ernest McChn-
they, Varna, and the groom is the
son; of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bell,
Bayfield, The Rev, T. J. Pitt of-
ficiated,
The bride was lovely in floor-
length white silk organza over
satin, styled with small V neck-
line front and back, trimmed with
brocaded lace, The fitted bodice
had a large. bow at the back fal-
ling into a small chapel train. Her
finger-tip veil was 'held by a
crown of pearls and sequins. She
carried red roses and lily-of.the..
valley on, a white bible and
streamers of rose-buds.
Miss Joyce bell, Bayfield, was
maid of honour in copper silk or-
ganza over taffetta, AMiss' Mar-
ilyn Steck* Bayfield, and Miss
Lola Chuter, Varna were brides
maids in matching beige 'dresses
of silk organza over taftetta, Miss
Bell carried a cascade of bronze
and yellow 'mums and the brides-
maids carried cascades of bronze
'mums,
Mrs, Addle Willis, Varna, was
organist and accompanied the
soloist, Stanley Gingerich, Zurien,
Miss • Janis .Galbraith, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Alan M. ,Gal-
braith, Bayfield, was ficwrgirj, in
long white gown matching that of
the bride. She carried a nose-
gay of red and white carnations.
For a reception at the Little
Inn in Bayfield, the bride's moth-.
er wore a sapphire blue crepe
dress with black .4.1111 white acces-
sories,
For travelling the bride donned
a cocoa brown fitted suit with
beige and brown accessories, and
a corsage of red roses and lily-of-,
the-valley. Upon their return
from Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., the
young couple will make their
home in Clinton,.
Prior to the wedding the bride
was honoured several times. On
September 5, a pantry shower
was held at the hom of Joyce
Hayfield. On September 9,
a Cerntniallity shower was held iris
the town hall in Varna, and the
young, bride-elect was presented
with four tables and three lainPe,
for the living, room, and a purse,
of money.
On September 1,1, a miscellan-
eous shower was held at her
aunt's home, Mrs. Erniners.on
le, Kippen, at which relatives at-
tended, and on September 16, the
bride's mother entertained at ri‘.

training at the Royal Victoria
Hospital, Montreal, spent the
weekend with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Yeo,
Miss Helen Potter, teacher at
Oakridge Acres, London, and Ken-
neth Potter, student at the OAC,
Guelph, spent the weekend at the
home of - their parents, Mr; and
Mrs, Blrner Potter.

Cullough, student at Toronto Wes-
tern Iiospital, and Mr. and Mrs,

Miss Mary Helen Yeo, Strat-

Jack Yeo, at the weekend.
Dewar Norman was in Kitchen-
er last Wednesday, visiting his
mother, Mrs, Frank Norman, who
is a patient at the K & W Hospi-
tal, that city.
Rev. M. G. Newton, Smithville,
will be the guest minister for the
Anniversary Services at Holmes-
vine United Church on Sunday,
October 4. Services will start at
11 a.m. and 7.30 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs, William Norman
visited with Mrs Frank Norman
at the K & W Hospital, Kitchen-
er, last Sunday.
Jim Corren is a patient in the
Clinton Public Hospital. His
neighbors wish him a very speedy
recovery.

Mrs, Harold Webster thanked
both ladies and offering was re-
ceived by Mrs. Webster and Mrs.
Robert J. Arthur.
The president, Mrs. Arthur
Grange took charge of the busi-
nes period. It was decided to hold
a Christmas Fair on Friday even-
ing, November 20. A donation
was also voted for the furnace
fund. The last two verses of the
hymn were sung and the benedic-
tion was pronounced by Mrs.
Grange. Lunch was served by the
ladies of the Orchid group.
