Goderich Legion Picnics
At Jowett's Grove
About 400 people attended the
picnic of Goderich Branch, Can-
adian Legion, in Jowett's Grove,
Bayfield, on Sunday. A, "Red"
Garon clocked in 150 cars in the
day. The event included a ball
game between members of the

A baptismal of more than usual
interest took place in St. James
Anglican Church (Middleton) on
Sunday afternoon, July 19, at 3.30
p.m. at a special service when the
rector, the Rev. E. J. B. Harris-
on officiated.
The christening was of William
George Carson, infant son of the
Rev. Robert Andrew Carson and
his wife, formerly Mary A. Dyer-
Hurdon, and the scene of the
christening was also that of the
christening of the paternal gr-
andmother, Mrs. Joseph W. Car-
son, who was formerly Rena
Myrtle Beacon.
It is interesting to note that
the flagon used for the wine in
the communion service at this
church was a gift of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John Beacon in
the year 1899, and was on dis-
play on the Holy Table for the
interest of those present at the
ceremony on Sunday.
God-parents were Joseph W.
Carson, the child's grandfather;
John B. Carson, his uncle; Maizie
Shields, his aunt, sister of the
child's mother, Alvinston, Ontario.
The Rev. and Mrs. Carson were
home on holidays from their par-
ish of Norway House, Northern
Manitoba. A reception was held
afterward at the grandparents
summer home in Bayfield.
