Adam Stewart
Funeral Services were held front
the Beattie funeral home, Clinton,
for Adam Stewart, on Sunday,
July 5, 1959, at 3 pan e conducted
by Rev. J, A, IVfcKirre with burial
in Baird's Cemetery.
Born in Stanley Township, Feb-
ruary 13, 1374, he married Christ-
ena Mawen, in 1899, who pre-
deceased him in 1950,
Surviving are four daughters,
Mrs. H, F. Noonan (Ann), Wind-
ser; Mrs. Francis Daymond, (Bet-
ty), Chatham; Mrs. Don Wilson
(Mae) Cloves, New Mexico; Miss
Helen Stewart (Billie), at borne;
ten grandchildren and siX great-
grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs.
Fred Wallis (Abigail) Westport,
Connecticut, predeceased him in
1952.
Pall-bearers were Donald Glen,
Robert Glen, John McGregor, Carl
Diehl, Harvey Stewart, Brown
Stewart, Flower-bearers were
four grandsons, Stewart Daymond,
Donald Daymond, Douglas. Day-
mond, Robert Noonan and Chester
Neilens and Arie Verhoef, Jr.

A social evening was spent in
the school room of the United
Church last week when friends
from the three pastoral charges,
Burns, Constance and Londesboro
gathered to say farewell to Mr.
and Mrs. J, T. White who has
been their minister since 1953.
George Watt was chairman and
introduced the following numbers,
community singing was led by
Mrs. Eddy Bell with Margurite
Lyon officiating at the piano, Bar-
;bare, Bonnie, Larry and Robert
Snell favoured with a quartette,
Mary and Margaret McGregor
gave a fine duet.
Piano solos by Miss Marilyn
Miss Carol Bloor, London, is
holidaying this week with her
cousin, Miss Bonnie Kennedy.
A joint meeting of the WA and
WMS will be held on July 1,6.
Kenneth Ashton will have the
services in Burns and Londesboro
this coming Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Colonel Marks,
Diana and Helen, Listowel, also
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bender, Palm-
erston, spent Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs, Ted Fothergill.

orous reading by Mrs. Borden Br-
own followed, A solo by Mrs. Ed-
dy Bell ended the program,
Rev. and Mrs. White were called
to the platform when Warden Wil-
liam Jewitt presented them with
a handsome two-piece davenport
suite. Also a twin set of luggage
to Mrs White by an anonymous
friend in the congregation was
presented by Mrs. R. Townsend.
'Mr. White replied with a few well
'chosen words. Mrs. White also ex-
pressed her thanks and appreci-
ation for the lovely gifts.
Mr. White will be succeeded by
Rev. Henry Funge, Nova Scotia,
who will be in charge of the serv-
ices August 2.
Gaunt recently were their son
Kenneth, Dave Morrow, Janet El-
lis and Mary Crowe, all of Lions
Head. Miss Fay Gaunt returned
with them for a few holidays. Fay
Gaunt and Glenda McDougal have
taken a position at the Sunset Hot-
el, Goderich, for the summer vac-
ation.
Mrs. Albert Richmond, Cypress
River, Man., is spending a month
with relatives and former neigh-
bours in the vicinity.
Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Sprung
and family, Darlingford, Man., are
spending a few weeks vacation
with Mr, and Mrs. Ernest Knox
and other relatives.
Isaac Ranson is a patient in
the hospital in Clinton.
Visitors with Mrs. Mary Shob-
brook for the weekend were Mr.
and Mrs, Norman Radford, Lind-
en, and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Shob-
brook, Oshawa.
Mail Carrier Retires
Mrs. Chris Kennedy and Mrs.
Robert Burns called on Mr. and
Mrs. James McCool recently and
presented them with a wallet and
sum of money from people on the
mail route and neighbours in the
village in apreciation of their long
term in the mail service.
Mr. McCool has served in the
store and post office for 36 years
and has now retired but will con-
tinue to reside in the village. Mrs.
McCool has not been enjoying the
best of health this summer but
her many friends hope she will
soon be her old cheerful self again.

The closing service will be held

Beptist Church, When the certifi-

en by the Pupils on their work and
