Don Bell completed ten weeks
in carpentery at the Provincial
Trade School in Toronto on Fri-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Oliver and

spent the weekend with Mrs. Fas-
tens.
The Reverend John E. Birtch,
St. Barnabas Church, Sarnia, cal-
led at the rectory one day last
week.
Miss Connie Shantz, Port Albert
was a guest at the Thomas Orr
cottage, south of the village over

Huntsville, June 22 to 24,

Ronald returned to Dearborn,
Miele, on Monday after having
been guests at The Little Inn for
a week.
Miss Kathleen Reid and Miss
Phyllis Duckworth Windsor, came
on Friday to spend a week with
the former's mother at "Enfield
Cottage".
Mr. and Mrs, Fred Schafleitlin,
Judy, Susie and Donald, Niagara
Falls, came on Tuesday to spend
a vacation with Mrs. William H,
Robinson.
Mr, and Mrs. J. Pounder, Johnny
Cathy and Mary Beth, London,
are spending this week with Mrs.
Pounder's mother, Mrs. Lloyd
Scotchmer and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bauer and
two children, Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Bauer and two children, Kitchen-
er, were with their mother, Mrs.
E. J. Bauer for the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wild and fam-
ily, Nekoma, N. Dak., called on
Mr. and Mrs. William H. Johnston
and Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Feather-
stone on Suunday on route to
Washington, D.C.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Castle and
family, Galt, came on Monday to
visit his father, T, W. Castle. Ken
returned to Galt on Tuesday ev-
ening, leaving his wife and' four
boys for a longer stay.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Burt and
Janice were here for the weekend.
Mrs, L. M. Burt, Miss Mary. Lou
Burt, Reg. N., accompanied by Ot-

also at her home here on Sunday.
Dr. and Mrs. Gordon Lea went
to Toronto on Monday to attend
the luncheon of the Canadian Med-
ical Association at which Prince
Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was
made president, on Tuesday.

Switzer - Atkinson
Bayfield Baptist Church was
the scene on June 6 of the wed-
ding of Carol Ann Dora, daughter
of Mr. and 1VIrs, Elwood Atkinson,
Goderieh, to Bruce Raymond Swit-
zer, Bayfield, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Switzer, also of Bayfield.,
Pastor.Ivor Bodenham conducted
the service.
The bride wore nylon lace over
taffeta with a rounded neckline
and short shirred sleeves. The
bodice was studded with seed
pearls and her illusion veil was
held to a sequined cap. She car-
ried white flowers.
Miss Margaret Cousins, Gode-
rich, was bridesmaid in pink nylon
overtaffeta, and Miss Bonnie
TideSwell, Goderich, was junior
bridesmaid, dressed similarly.
Douglas Switzer, Bayfield, was
groomsman, Miss Lois Talbot,
Bayfield, accompanied the soloist,
Mrs. John McPhail, Bayfield.
Guests attended from Guelph,
Brantford, Lucknow, Bayfield,
Londesboro and Clinton.
The bride travelled in blue em-
broidered nylon with white acces-
sories and a corsage' of roses, Fol-
lowing a wedding trip to Niagara
and other points east, the young
couple will live on the groom's
farm at RR 2, Bayfield.

Knox and Miss Olive Johnston.
Cub's Picnic
Mrs. Robert Turner, Cubmaster,
accompanied eight of the cubs on
a trip on Saturday, June 20, to
wind up their activities until fail.
They were Philip Turner, Neil
Bellchamber, Donny Lindsay, Geo-
rge Turland, Terry MeClinchey,
Johnny and Ricky Talbot, Rex
Johnston. Spencer Irvine took
them in his school bus. The first
stop was at Goclerich where the
boys enjoyed games in the park.
Then they toured Bissets Ice Cr-
earn Plant and went on to Port
Albert. From there they journeyed
to the Beach at the Presbyterian
Camp at Kintail. Although the
day was sunny, there was a cold
wind and so they returned to
Port Albert for their Weiner roast,
after which they came home.

Fitzsimons, who was taken to the
Children's War 11/1etnorial Hospital,
London, on Wednesday of last we-
ek, following several weeks illness,
came home yesterday,

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mack and Me-
rry, Tampa, Florida, arrived on
Monday evening to be the guests
of Mr. and Mrs. J. B, Hovey. They
attended the Downie-Hunter wed-
ding in St. Paul's Anglican Church

"Red Rubl" and his orchestra
who played at the Legion Hall in
Clinton Saturday night, occupied
William S. Barber's cottage and
Scotchmer's cabins over the week-
end. Mrs. Ruhl and three boys of
St. Thomas remained to spend this
week at the Barber's cottage.
Miss Ivy Bodenham, Reg. N.,
returned to her duties at Harp-
er's Hospital, Detroit, on Monday
after having spent a week with
her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. I-
vor Bodenham. Mrs. Bodenham's
niece, Miss Kitty Hillen, Detroit,
also spent the week with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Arkell, Jo-
Anne and Kenny, who had been
in Northern Ontario were with
his parents, Mr. and .Mrs, F. P,
Arkell from Wednesday to Friday
last week. JoAnne remained with
her grandparents while Phillip
Turner accompanied her parents
and Kenny to Bay City for a vac-
ation. The Reverend E. J. B. Harrison
conducted the 8th Anniversary
services at St. David's Church,
Windsor on Sunday, June 21, to
which he had been appointed tem-
porarily for the summer before he
was priested. After spending a cou-
ple of days in Sarnia and London
he returned to the rectory on
Thursday evening last.

Farewell To Teacher
A farewell gathering for Miss
Winnie Gray who has severed her
connection with the Clinton Public
School teaching staff, was held at
the cottage of Mrs. Irene Gard-

News of Honey Bees
Travelled Swiftly

The honey bees themselves may
not have flown far from theAr-
kell home when Mrs. F, P. Arkell
gathered a swarm off the inside
of a bedroom window and depos-
ited them safely outside. But news
of the feat travelled,
The weekend after the story was
published in the Clinton News-
Record, Mrs. Donald MacKenzie,
Little Current, heard it over a
broadcast from the Blind River
Station. She in turn gave the de-
tails to her grand daughter, Mrs.
Tom Arkell, who visited her en
route from Elliott Lake to Bay-
field. Mrs. Tom Arkell is Mrs. F.
P. Arkell's daughter-in-law,

MIDDLETON
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Middleton
spent the last ten days vacation-
ing in New York City. Ross was
the official delegate from the Clin-
ton Lions Club to the Lions Int-
ernational convention. Mrs. John
Middleton, Goderich, was in charge
of their household.
Dr. and. Mrs. Edward 1Vlullens
and family, Toronto, spent the
weekend with Fred Middleton's.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Middleton
were guests at the wedding of
Miss Mary Alice Hunter and Dr.
John Downie, Pittsburg, Pa., in
St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral in
Toronto on Saturday. The Rt. Rev.
F. W. Wilkinson, Bishop of To-
ronto, officiated and the reception
was held at the home of the bride's
parents, Dr. and Mrs. R. G. Hunt-
