Letter to the Ed itor
SOWS, XINT ()LINTON
The Editor
Clinton Nem-Record
7th June
Dear Sir;
I write te thank you so very
much for the copies of the Clinton
News-Record which you have sent
me. I was thrilled to read the par-
agraph about my letter to the
IVfayor, I showed it to my pals at
my school, Abbotsford County Sec-
ondary, which were all very excit-
ed to read it. Daddy and Mummy,
have of course spent a lot of time
talking about the paper, particu-
larly the adverts, trying to re-
member where the shops were
when they were in Clinton and re-
calling people whose names are
mentioned.
Daddy was very pleased to read
the issue which contained the sto-
ry of the air station. I-le was a
member of the first R,A.F. party
who arrived on July 2Q, 1941 and
as an instructor on ground radar
his first pupils were American
personnel. He was an instructor
there till September, 1944 and ser-
ved under Wing Commander Pat-
rick, RCAF. He says that the sta-
tion was not fully complete when
he arrived. Now it is obviously
much bigger than it was in those
.days, he remembers the silo well,
Mummy, Daddy and were very
pleased to hear again from Mrs.
Ernest Epps, for she wrote to me
.5()Q11 she read. the paragraph
in the News-Record, I have replied
to her and sent a photo of my-self so that she C411 see hew muCh
the "little baby" has grown.
It is certainly exciting to hear
SO intich about the place where-
I was born and I look forward
to the pictures of Clinton. Pen,
haps one of these days I might
even be able to return and see
the town myself,
Yours gratefully,
Lynda. Coolte
