The club's collection of game birds and small animals will be interesting for the visitors. These young 'coons are being fed milk and bread by Harold Frerrilin, Huron Street. This i$ a dainty job, com- pared to the task of feeding 01' Mose, the huge black bear which is now apparently quite at home in his bear pit at the Club's grounds at Alma Grove. Upwards of 1,000 rac- ing enthusiasts watched the event, run under clear skies with a per- fect track. Top speed of the day was 2,12 4/5 run by Thunder Bay, the two heat winner in the free-for-all event. Tory Gregg emceed the ten events, and congratulated young "Butch" Elliott, son of Dr. and Mrs. G. S. Elliott, who lead the parade to the starting gate before eat heat. Butch wore scarlet and white satin colours, and guided his milk white pony hitched to his sulky with good horsemanship be- fore the crowds. The day was without any spills or mishaps. The Kinette Club of Clinton operated a refreshment booth and did a thriving business throughout the supper hour, Clinton horses showed up well on Soccer Team Loses 2.1 Clinton soccer team dropped the last of the scheduled games here last night with a 2-1 loss to Win- throp, Playoff schedule is yet to be set, but Clinton will meet St. Columban first. Golf is feet becoming the most popular sport in this district, as shown by the over 100 members of the Bayfield-Clinton Golf Club. Over 60 of these are from the town of Clinton, with the remaind- er from Bayfield, Seaforth; and many rural people are taking up the game. Fred Hulls, the popular owner- manager of the course, is offering special rates for twilight golf dur- ing the week days only, Some very interesting two-ball foursome matches have been held at the course, and more of these their home track. Solar Dee, owned and driven by Bill German, placed third in the first heat of the 2,30, and in the second heat lead for the first half before dropping back to seventh position. J. S. C., owned by Lorne Brown and Dick Jamb, and driven by Scott Kerr, held a two-length lead in the first heat of the 2.28, right up be the seven- eighth post, finishing second. In the second heat J. S. C. again led most of the way, but came in third, Marjean Chief, owned by Brown and Jacob, with Kerr driving, earn- ed a sixth and fifth place in the 2.30 class. Running in the 2.25, and driven by Scott Kerr, Mis- chief G., owned by Dr. Elliott and Jack Little, placed seventh and fifth. An old trophy from a former Bayfield golf course has been un- earthed and restored to gleaming condition by John .Anstett, Clinton jeweller. This trophy will be com- peted for later in the season. An addition was built to the club house this spring and houses a well-equipped pro shop, both ladies and men's locker rooms, and a snack bar and lounge. BONNIE R. Time: 2.14 2/5 and 2,12 4/5, 0 Bantams Lose One Game To Hensall, But Trounce Lucan The Clinton Fish and Game Ban- tams split their two games last week as they trounced Lucan 17-6 in Lucan, but lost to a strong Hen- sell team by a score of 21. to 5. Playing host to Hensel]. last Thursday, the local team were only down one run until a fateful third inning when Hensall pushed across eight big runs on six hits, Hensall added six more in the fifth to sew up the game. D. Mock was the Hensall bat- ting hero with five straight hits and four of his team's runs. Don Colquhoun who pitched the game for Clinton also was their leading hitter with two singles, Laurie Colquhoun, Bruce Cooper and Bob Livermore each had one single. On Tuesday when the local Ban- tams journeyed to Lucan it was an entirely different story as they swamped Lucan 17-6. Don Lockwood and Bruce Coop- er paced the local's attack, each with three hits. Bob Livermore, Don Freeman and Don Colquhoun each had a pair of hits while Doug Mairs, Bryan Levis and Bayne Boyes each had one hit. Bayne Boyes did the pitching until the third when Don Colquhoun took over. Clinton's next home game will be Thursday (tonight) when Gode- rich are the opposition. Juveniles Win Two, Against Hensall And Sebringville Clinton Legion Juveniles Won both their starts last week as they trounced the Sebringville team Friday evening in Sebringville by a 19-5 score, and also won their home game Monday night against Hensall, 8-6. In the game against Sebring- vine that went nine innings, Clin- ton scored five in the third and six in the fourth to put the game out of reach. John Jacob led the Clinton batters with four hits and two runs, Paul Pickett, Charlie Bartliff and Roger Cummings each had three hits. On Monday evening, the Clinton Juveniles eked etit an 8-6 decision over Hertsall Juveniles on their home diamond, Clinton scored six big runs in the second inning and added the winning runs in the sixth and seventh. Hensall stored two in the first and four More in the fourth. Final Game Tonight In Kin Peewee Baseball League The "world series" game of the four team Kinsmen. Peewee Base- ball League is being played tonight at the RCAF Sports Field at 6.30 o'clock. The finalists are the Clin- ton Dodgers and the RCAF entry. The News-Record trophy, won by the Dodgers last year, will be pre- sented to the winning team after the game. Win First WOAA Game Clinton Kinsmen Peewee base- ball team began their WOAA pee- wee schedule with a decisive 25-6 win over Mitchell this week. John Cooper and Brad Dutot did the pitching, while three catchers were tested in this first game, Laurie Colquhoun, Bill Barnes and Jim Livermore. New Hamburg plays here Sat- urday afternoon at 2,30. This was the team that upset Clinton last year in the playoffs.
