members of the South Huron As-
sociation of the Women Teachers'
Federation was held in. the Legion
Memorial Hall here, on Wednes-
day evening, June $. Units repre-
sented included Exeter, Hensall-
Hay, Goderich and Clinton,
Guests were welcomed by Miss
Edythe Beacom, president of the
local unit, Mrs, Ruth Knox, ac-
companiecl by Miss Lois Granby at
the piano, contributed two pleas,.

The guest speaker, W. D. Sut-
ton, Superintendent of Elementary
Schools in the City of London, Was
introduced by Mrs. Hicks, Cent-
ralia. In his opening remarks the
gentleman asked each listener to
be prepared to carry away either
a lighted candle or a measuring
stick.
Mr. Sutton said that to solve
modern school problems one must
study the methods used by the
great Master Teacher who scorned
neither rich nor poor, who treated
each pupil as an indiivdual and
who strove always to instill into
the minds of his listeners the
qualities of Truth, Beauty and
Goodness,
He went on to say that story-
telling is as useful to-clay as in the
days of Jesus, He stressed the
neeesaity of adequate preparation,
In his closing remarks Mr, Sutton
again reminded his listeners to
study each child as an individual,
to know her subject well, and
always to walk humbly,
Miss Margaret Mason, Goderich,
tendered a vote of thanks to the
guest for the message he had so
capably delivered, At the annual
meeting which followed, Miss
Gladys McDowell presided. Re-
ports from the four units were pre-
sentecl.
Miss Esther Hume, Goderich,
and Miss Edythe Beacom, Londes-
boro, each reported on the Spring
Assembly which they had attend-
ed in Windsor.

Perform at Kirkton
Bonnie Snell, first prize soloist
at the Hullett Township Music
Festival earlier this spring will
sing a solo at the Kirkton Garden
Party in July, Barbara, Bonnie,
Robbie and Larry Snell will sing
4 quartet. They are pupils of Miss
Margaret Jackson, and attend US$

Burns Church Has
Annivers ry Service
An overflow congregation of 300
attended the centennial services at
Burns United Church in Hullett
Township on Sunday, Speakers in-
cluded the Rev, A. W. Gardiner,
Alvinston, and the Rev. J. T.
White minister since 1953.
The present building was built,
in 1890, and has been known as
Burns United since 1925. Before
that it was the Burns Presbyterian
Church of Hullett, and prior to
that the Hullett Free Church, and
the Canada Presbyterian Church
of Hullett.

At Garden Pqrty
The Bluebells and Beavers were
invited to a garden party on the
lawn of Mrs. C. H. Epps, Church
Street, on Saturday afternoon,
June 13. Leaders conducted games,
for which some prizes were tickets
for Mrs. Zablocki's Ballet Recital
that night in the Legion Hall.
