A by-law regulating the Issuance
of dog tags and regulating the
running at large of dogs pursuant
to The Dog Tax and The Cattle,
Sheep and Poultry Protection Act,
R.S.O. 1950, Chapter 107 and am-
endments.
The Municipal Council of The
Corporation of the Township of
Tuckersmith enacts as halms:
(1) Every person on or before
the 1st day of July, 1959, and on
or before the 15th day of February
in each year thereafter shall pro-
cure from the Clerk of the Town-
ship of Tuckersmith a tag for each
dog in respect of which he is li-
able for dog tax under Section 2
of the Dog Tax and The Cattle,
Sheep and Poultry Protection Act.
Such tag shall be securely fixed
on the dog at all times during
the year and until he procures a
tag for the following year except
that the tag may be removed while
the dog is being lawfully used for
hunting deer in the bush
(2 The tag specified in the pre-
ceding paragraph shall bear a ser-
ial number and the year in which
it was issued and a record shall
be kept by the Clerk showing the
name and address of the owner
and the serial number of the tag.
(3) Any person becoming an
owner or harbourer of a dog at
any time during the year shall ap-
ply to the Clerk forthwith for
a tag for such dog and a record
of such issue shall be kept by the
Clerk.
(4) The Reeve may at any time
when authorized to do so by a
resolution of the Council issue
his proclamation declaring that no
dog shall be permitted to run at
large within the Township during
such period as shall be determined
by the Council and named in such
proclamation, and notice of such
proclamation shall be given by not
less than one weeks advertisement
in a newspaper circulating in the
Township before the same goes
into effect.
(5) For the purpose of the pre-
ceding paragraph a dog shall be
deemed to be running at large
when found in a highway or other
public place and not under the
control of any person.
(6) Any dog running at large
contrary to the provisions of this
'By-law be siezed and Impounded,
'and may be killed, before or after
impounding, under any of the cir-
cumstances set forth in Section
9 of The Dog Tax and The Cat-
tle, Sheep and Poultry Protection
Act.
(7) Every person who fails to
comply with paragraph 1 of this
by-law or who uses a tag upon a
dog other that that for which it
was issued shall be guilty of an
offence and on summary convic-
tion shall be liable to a penalty
of not more than $10.00. Every
person who contravenes any other
provision of this by-law shall be
liable to a penalty of not more
than $50.00, exclusive of costs,
and every such penalty shall be
recoverable under The Summary
Convictions Act.
