For Strawberry Social
The Catholic Women's League
met in St. Joseph's parish hall, on
June 1, with Mrs. William Wat-
kins in the chair.
The visiting committte reported
15 calls. The visiting committee
for June is Mrs. B. Glidden, Mrs.
A. Goldsworthy and Mrs. William
Monaghan. A canned goods sale
was won by Mrs. Ed, Florian and
Mrs. William Monaghan.
Plans were made for a straw-
berry social to be held at the reg -
ular monthly meeting in July.
A delicious lunch was served by
Mrs. Ed. Florian, Mrs. Theo Fly-
nn and Mrs. John Flynn.
Happy Workers Club
The Happy Workers Club will
meet on Thursday evening, June
11, at the home of Mrs. Wilfred

Wins Nursing Award
Miss Sharon Thompson, Clinton,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs. T. R,
Thompson, Ontario Street, has
earned the award for general pro-
ficiency in the intermediate year
at Stratford. General Hospital
School of Nursing. The award
WAR presented by Miss Martha
Racey at the graduation exercises
held this year in the Shakespear-
ean Festival theatre, Sharon had
obtained 84.94 percent,

Ordained At
All Saints Church
The Rev. Robert Ferguson Meal-
ly, who was one of the ordinands
at the recent Whitsuntide Ordin-
ation, held - on May 18 at All
Saint's Church, London, Ontario,
has recently concluded his first
year in the Ministry as deacon-in-
charge of the parish of Blyth with
Auburn 'and Belgrave,
Mr. Meally is an Irishman who,
after serving in a secular vocation,'
was called to the ministry of the
church, and after extensive prep-
aratory studies in the Old Country,
came to Canada with Mrs. Meally
in 1957. Mr. Meally spent a full
year at Seager Hall, the• diocesan
Theological Institute for the train-
ing of older men for the Ministry
at London, Ontario,
In the spring of 1958, Mr. Meal-
ly was made a deacon and took up
his residence in the Blyth Rectory.
Since his ordination to the full
Ministry of the Church, Mr. Meal-
ly will become the Incumbent of
the Blyth Church and will short-
ly be inducted to his senior office.
Twenty-eight Scouts attended
the Parents Night weiner roast at
Camp Chippewa on May 27, under
the supervision of Scooters Bob
Mitchell and percy Brown, A flag
break was followed by games,
while the hob:logs,. hot chocolate
and coffee were being prepared.
After eating, each Patrol per-
formed • a skit, Parents were
brought up to date on Scouting
and everyone united for a. sing
song. When the evening broke up,
several Scouts guided the way for
home going cars by lighting the
Jane with flashlights,
About 00-500 pairs of eyeglas-
ses were collected on Saturday
morning . for the Clinton Lions

For Detroit Trip
The Clinton Women's Institute
met on May 28, with vice-president
Mrs. W. Ross presiding in the ab-
sence of Mrs. Batkin. Mrs. C. El-
liott read the minutes. Mrs. C.
Sturdy, treasurer, gave her report,
and also a report on the District
Annual at St. Helen's. Five dele-
gates from Clinton, Mrs. M. Bat-
kin, Mrs. C. Sturdy, Mrs. W. Ross,
Mrs. W. Colclough and Mrs. M.
Crich, attended that meeting.
The bus committee reported a
capacity enrolment for the trip to
Greenfield Village near Detroit,
Mich., on June 2.
It 'was learned that one had to
be an Institute member for 25
years, and pay $25 to be a life
member of the group. The ladies
decided to buy souvenir spoons
from the Junior Institute.
Mrs. C, Nelson gave a humerous
reading and Mrs. H. Snell sang,
aceorhpanied by Mrs. 0. Welsh on
the piano. Lunch was served.

The Reverend Arthur Peter
Seeley Addison, B.A., of Holy
Trinity United Church, Elliott
Lake, received the degree of hon-
orary Doctor of 'Divinity, at con-
vocation at Toronto 'University on
May G. The Rev. Dr, Addison has
spent 26 years in the Christian
ministry, and is son-in-law of Mr;
and Mrs. Nelson W, Trewartha,
Ontario Street, Clinton.
On his return to Elliot Lake,
Mr. Addison was presented with
two exquisitely bound books by the
eongregation of Holy Trinity, in
recognition of the honours bps-
towed upon him.
