A number of the ladies attend-
ed the district annual of the Wo-
men's Institute, Wednesday of last
week which was held at St. Helens,
Mrs. Mac Hodgert and daughter

Manning Sr., on Sunday.

her daughter.

The Surnmerhill Community
Hall was the scene of a presenta-
tion honouring Mr. and Mrs, Earl
Shipman on their recent marriage.
Mrs. Shipman is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Goldsworthy,
RR 1; Clinton,
The evening consisted of cards.
Ladies' high was won by Mrs.
Percy Gibbings; ladies' low by Mrs.
Earl Shipman; men's high by Ro-
bert Smith; men's low, Ross Lov-
ett; ladies' lone hands, Miss Rita
Flynn; men's, William Lovett.

Mrs, Minnie.. .E. Lyon

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie
Elva Lyon was condueted, Monday
afternoon, at the Tasker funeral
home, Blyth, Mrs. Lyon had been
in failing health for some months
and passed away at the home of
her daughter in Geneva, New
York, on Friday, May .22,
She was the daughter of the
late Edmund Lear, and Hannah
Ball, and was born in November.
188$ on the farm now owned by
John Sanderson on the 13th con-
cessien of Hullett,
Tn February, 1908, She was mar-•
tied to John W. Lyon and moved-
to. Brandon where she resided un-
til ten years ago and since then
has made her home with her dau-
ghter and sisters, Her husband
predeceased her in .1919,
She leaves to mourn her loss
three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (El-
va) Baumgartner, Geneva, N. Y,;
Mrs. Charles (Mayme) Walden,
Brandon, Man, and Mrs, Herb
(Dorothy) Mines, Vancouver, B.
C.; two sisters, Mrs, Gertrude
Taylor, Goderich and Mrs, J. S.
Cheilew, Blyth and one brother,
Nelson Leer, Lontlesboro; few
grandchildren and one great gr,
andchilcl,
The funeral service was =duet,
ed by her nephew Rev, K. Mitchell,
pastor of West Chicago Baptist
Church, Detroit, and the Rev, Evan
McLagan, pastor of Blyth United
Church..
Pall-bearers. were four nephews:
Mose' Martin, Edmund. Taylor,
George Underwood and Harry
Lear and two cousins, Glen Raith-
by and Harry Sturdy. ,
Interment took plaee. in Blyth
Union Cemetery.
The address was read by Lloyd
Stewart and conveyed best wishes
of friends and neighbours. The
couple were presented with a floor
lamp by Mrs. James 'Snell and an
end table and coffee table by Ivan
Carter and Ivan Hoggart. The
bride and groom thanked the group
for the gifts,
Lunch was served, followed by
dancing, music being provided by
Mr. and Mrs. George Henderson,
Brucefield. Well-wishers were
present from London, Hamilton
and RR 1, Clinton, The young
couple will reside in London.
