Davies, and Mrs. Wes. Bradnock, attended the District Annual of the Women's Institute, at St. Hel- en's, last Wednesday. Visitors over the weekend with Mrs. Stanley Johnston, were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Perdue, Larry and Lori, London, and also Lloyd John- star', Esther and Robert, London, They attended the funeral of his sister-M-law, Mrs, Roy LePPing- ton, at Clinton last Saturday. New Business Nelson Moulder' has sold his shop to Cliff, McDonald, who takes possession this Week. He will op- erate a TV, Radio repair shop, also electric appliances, electric fencers sales and service, Mr. Moulder'. will continue his shoe repair business in the front room of his residence. He has been conducting this shoe repair shop for 24 years. June Bride Honoured Miss Ellen Daer, bride-elect, was honored last Friclay, evening when a large crowd gathered in the Or- ange Nall to give her a miscellan- eous shower, Mrs, Thomas Hag- gitt presided for the short pro- gram. Mrs. Gordon R. Taylor led in the sing-song, with accompani- ment by Mrs. Robert J. Phillips, A trio "Somebody" was sung by. Misses Mary Kirkconnell, Eileen Schneider and. Ruth Schneider: A reading "The Farmer's Wife" was given by Mrs. Alfred Nesbett, A piano instrumental was played by Miss Elva Gross. A solo "Peggy O'Neill" was sung by Mrs. Wes. Bradnock, and a .duet "Land of Spain" was sung by Misses Mary Kirkconnell and Eileen Schneider, • A reading "Recipe for a wedding cake," was read by Mrs. George Schneider. Mrs. Haggitt thanked all who had taken in the program and called on Miss Shirley Brown to read the address of congratula- tion to the bride-to-be. Miss Margaret Clark escorted Ellen to the decorated chair and pinned a lovely corsage on her. The many gifts were carried in by Misses Carol Clark, Anna Marie Schneider, Eileen Schneider, Mary and Dianne Kirkconnell, and pre- sented to her. Ellen thanked her many friends for their lovely gifts and all sang "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow", followed by a social half hour. Women's Institute The Auburn Women's Institute held their meeting in the Orange Hall, with their new president, Mrs. Thomas Haggitt in charge. Mrs. R. 3. Phillips at the piano. Installation ceremony was conduc- ted by the district president, Mrs. Wes. Bradnock. Mrs. Haggitt thanked the past president, Mrs. George Millian. Minutes were read by Mrs. Bert Craig, Committee in charge of selling the souvenir spoons of the Royal Visit will be Mrs. Thomas Hag- gitt, Mrs. Bert C. Craig, Mrs. Keith Machan, Mrs. Ed. Davies, Mrs. Alfred Nesbett and Mrs. Wes. Bradnock. The auditor's report was given by Mrs. Ed. Davies. Roll call was answered by a donation of bulbs, seeds or plants for the auction. Mrs. Gordon Dobie was in charge of the matching display of aprons, luncheon cloth, etc., on which tick- ets had been sold. The daugh- ter of Mrs. Fred McEwen, Bay- field, Dr. Nicholls is the wife of UWO professor of Physics, Dr, Ralph W. Nicholls, Dr, Nicholls who will receive two gold med- als, is graduating cum laude.
