weekend with Mrs. Wallis.
T. R. Thompson, Ontario Street,
and his two daughters will leave
by train June 1 for Montreal,
where they will board the Empress
Clinton Girl Guides spent the
holiday weekend at the Cub camp
on the Maitland River, under the
supervision of their captain, Mrs,
Bud Graham. The Company lead-
ers, patrol 'leaders and seconds.
Arriving at seven o'clock Friday
night, the girls put the huts in
readiness for the night and drank
hot chocolate. On Saturday the
remainder of the Guide Company
joined the campers, under the
supervision of Mrs. L, G. Winter,
and they remained for supper. On
Sunday the Guides attended the
church of their mini denomination,
transported by A, "Red" Garen
and Mrs. Lansborough. That aft-
ernoon they went swimming under
the capable supervision of Comp-
any Leader Diane Campbell.
During camp various tests were
passed, including fire, cook, trail,
hike and bed roll.
A Guides Own was held Sunday
after supper, led by Company Lea-
der Lynda Jervis. That evening
the Scouts were invited from their
camp, and supervised by Scout
Master Bob Mitchell, they joined

Mr, Thompson will go direct to
his former home at Enniskellen,
Northern Ireland, After touring
England and Scotland the girls
will join their father. They will
be away for about six weeks. Joan
Thompson is employed with , the
Rural Hydro here and. Patsy is

Skits by both groups and a sing
song were enjoyed. Scout Paul
Bateman thanked Mrs, Graham
and the Guides for their invitation.
Attending camp were Marjorie
Woods, Karen Schefter, Joanne
Cudgnore, Lynda Jervis, Lloy Ann
Rutherford, Susan Smith, Diane
Garon, Margaret Gliddon, Diane
Campbell, Sally Peeves, Barbara
Corey. Menus . had been planned
at a Court of Honour meeting
prior to the weekend. Fees of $2
for each Guide were paid toward
the groceries cost.
Monday afternoon camp was
broken up at 3 o'clock and all
equipment was transported back
to Clinton by George Campbell
and Bud Graham, Guides and Lea-
ders hiked back to town.
Visitors at the camp were Area
Commissioner Mrs. L. Siegmeier,
Exeter; Camp Advisor, Mrs. Lav-
ender, Hensall; Mr. and Mrs. Geo-
rge Campbell, Mr. and Mrs, L. G.
Winter, Clinton.

in the chair, and extended a wel-
come to all for their interest. Mrs.
M. McAdam read the minutes of
the last meeting and Mrs, Vi Hata
good, the treasurer's report.
Mrs, H. Johnston reported on
the craft work already done. They
have sold approximately $38 worth
and hope by fall to be able to
have a bazaar. Donations of used
greeting cards are acceptable as
several are making scrap books.
Also quilt patches are needed,
The program consisted of a solo
by Mrs. Govenlock who is 94 and
two piano numbers by Miss Amel-
ia Bamford, who at one time
taught music, Both are residents
of the home,
It was decided to give a birth-
day party every month for those
having them that month. The
Blyth ladies arc taking the June
meeting on the third Wednesday,
It is very encouraging to see
the interest the ladies are taking
in adding a few more happy hours
to those who are getting closer
to the end of the road, by visiting
chatting and giving the odd gift
here and there. A social cup of tea
was served at the close of the
meeting. Anyone interested please
come out to the meetings the
third Monday in the month, Bring
an article for a penny sale to the
June meeting.

OBITUARIES
Mrs. James Cook
Entered into rest in Clinton
Public Hospital on Monday, May
18, Mary Olive Cook, widow of
the late James Cook, Vancouver,
B.C., in her 71st year.
Born in Hullett Township, she
attended Kinburn school.
Three brothers, Miller, Ernest
and Thomas Adams; all of Sea-
forth, and one sister, Mrs. W.
Ross, Londesboro, are left to
mourn her loss.
Burial took place from the
Whitney funeral home, Seaforth,
to Maitlandbank Cemetery, Sea-
forth, with Rev. J. C. Britton of-
ficiating. Pallbearers were Lorne
Lawson, Verne Dale, Howard Arm-
strong, Walter Scott, Robert Mc-
Millan, John Davidson. Flower-
bearers were Secord McBrien,
Charles Millson, William Dolrnage,
Walter McClure and Jack Medd.
A. Ernest Rumball
Well-known resident of Clinton,
Albert Ernest Rumball, passed
away on Sunday, May 17, in his
73rd year. Funeral service was
held Thursdak, May 21, from Ball
and Mutch funeral home, High
Street, with the Rev. Grant Mills
officiating. Interment was in
Clinton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cameron Proc-
tor, Kenneth Pickett, Ernest
Brown, Gordon Lawson, Howard
Brunsdon and Wilbur Martin.
Flower bearers were grandchild-
ren: Misses Kathryn Anderson,
Mary Ann Rannie, Dianne Rannie,
Gloria Rumball, Howard Rennie
and Keith Anderson.
Mr. Rumball was born May 23,
1886, the son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. George Rumball, Clinton, and
lived all his life in the town. He
was married April 27, 1910, to the
former Mary Ann Elizabeth Rands,
who predeceased him.
He was a member of Ontario
Street United Church, the Odd-
fellows Lodge and the Masonic
Lodge, Retired at the time of his
death, he was for many years
superintendent of Clinton Public
Utilities.
Until recently Mr. Rumball had
served on the night shift of the
PUC, tending the machines at the
pumphouse.
Surviving are two sons: Lloyd,
Seaforth, and George, Clinton., two
daughters, Mrs. John (Helen) And-
erson, Kippen, and Mrs. Sam
(Eileen) Rennie, Hensall; one
brother, Herbert Rumball, Blad-
worth, Sask., and ten grandchild-
ren.

ewan, on May 9, 1959, in her
91st year, Elsie Leith Tough,
widow of the late John David-
son, and the last remaining me-
mber of the family of the late
John Tough and Isabella Hay,
formerly of the Brunson Line,
Stanley Township and aunt of
Mrs, John A. McEwan. Surviv-
ed by 12 grandchildren and sev-
eral great grandchildren. Inter-
ment in Dilke •Cemetery on May
12.
