Apparently the young driver was looking for another car, and was not paying attention, The impact splintered the pole, which was re- placed onMonday. No one was hurt, Car Cline Pole Damage estimated at $600 re- sulted from a collision on Satur- day evening between cars driven by Robert E. Secord, Hanover and Donald J. McPhail, Wingham, The incident occurred about three mil- es south of Clinton on Highway 4. The McPhail car was travelling south, when it struck the back of the Secord car, and went on thr- ough the ditch, knocking a piece out of a telephone pole, levelling three or four fence posts, and for about 40 rods into the field before coming to a halt. No one was injured, Telephone service was not interrupted, At that point there are 26 lines st- rung on the poles, and this was sufficient to keep the top' part of the pole erect. Damage was repaired temporarily, and on Mon- day morning workmen with the Tuckersmith Township Telephone System installed a new pole. Constable A.
