F. Stackhouse and Mr, and Mrs, Mac Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Allan and Mrs. Lorne Wilson were in Preston and Stratford on Saturday. Mrs. II Berry and Miss Gaye Elliott spent the ` weekend in Wingham and Bluevale, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Munn, Hensall, visited with Mrs. Ham and Miss Swan on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Henderson visited over the weekend with the Rev. and Mrs. Charles Cox, Bon. head, Mr. and Mrs, William Dinnin and Wilma spent Sunday at Both- well and Petrolia, with. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dinnin and Cathy. On Saturday, a bull-dozer was used to cover the vacant lot left by the fire with destroyed Lloyd Craig's general store on Easter Sunday. Watson has resigned from his position as clerk-treasur- er of the Township of Stanley be- cause of poor health. Mr. Watson has taken part in municipal work for about 27 years. He was reeve of the Township of Stanley for seven years, and is a former war- den of the County of Huron, Next Sunday, May 10, a spec- ial Mother's Day program will be held in the United Church at 10.15 a.m. with the Rev. T. J, Pitt in charge. A miscellaneous shower was held for Miss Ann Ostrom at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs, John Ostrom last Friday evening. Whalen, Toronto, The Rev. C. E. Peacock, uncle of the groom performed the cere- mony, and the bride was given a- way by her father. The bride wore a beige costume with a corsage of pink roses. She was attended by Miss Pauline Frances Dostal, Br- antford, who wore a pink suit and a corsage of yellow roses. The groomsman was Herbert John Gibson of Oak Ridges. Howard Sturdy Retires After 40 Years As Township Tax Collector Howard Sturdy has resigned from his position as tax collector in the Township of Goderich for 36 years. Prior to his present job, Mr. Sturdy served the town- ship in other capacities for more than four years. Council, headed by Reeve Walter J. Forbes, ac- cepted the resignation with regret.
