On Saturday, a bull-dozer was
used to cover the vacant lot left
by the fire with destroyed Lloyd
Craig's general store on Easter
Sunday. The corner space was
made a very fine parking lot for
new and used cars offered for
sale by W. H. Dalrynlple and

with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Scotch-
mer, Bayfield.
Fred S. Watson has resigned
from his position as clerk-treasur-
er of the Township of Stanley be-
cause of poor health. Mr. Watson
has taken part in municipal work
for about 27 years. He was reeve
of the Township of Stanley for
seven years, and is a former war-
den of the County of Huron,
Next Sunday, May 10, a spec-
ial Mother's Day program will
be held in the United Church at
10.15 a.m. with the Rev. T. J,
Pitt in charge.
A miscellaneous shower was held
for Miss Ann Ostrom at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs, John
Ostrom last Friday evening.

St. Andrew's United Church,
Bayfield, was the setting for the
marriage of Laurrette Margaret
Gibson, and Charles Whalen, on
Saturday, May 2, 1959,
The bride is the daughter of Mr,
and Mrs. Edward Foerter, Oak
Ridges, Ontario, and the gr000m is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
A. Whalen, Toronto,
The Rev. C. E. Peacock, uncle
of the groom performed the cere-
mony, and the bride was given a-
way by her father. The bride wore
a beige costume with a corsage of
pink roses. She was attended by
Miss Pauline Frances Dostal, Br-
antford, who wore a pink suit and
a corsage of yellow roses.
The groomsman was Herbert
John Gibson of Oak Ridges.
The reception was' held in the
parsonage where Mrs. Peacock,
aunt of the groom, received the
guests. The bridal pair left for a
trip to Niagara Falls, and on their
return will reside in Toronto.

Rate, 50 percent of regular
rate; minimum, 100 pounds per

itable organization on whose be-
half the shipment Is being tend-
ered for movement: "This is to

Howard Sturdy Retires
After 40 Years As
Township Tax Collector
Howard Sturdy has resigned
from his position as tax collector
in the Township of Goderich for
36 years. Prior to his present
job, Mr. Sturdy served the town-
ship in other capacities for more
than four years. Council, headed
by Reeve Walter J. Forbes, ac-
cepted the resignation with regret.
A farewell party has been ar-
ranged for Mr. Sturdy en Friday
night, May 15, when officials of
the township and their wives will
attend. -
