For Dart Tourney
Finals in Ottawa
Qualifying games were played
in the Ontario Dart Association
playoffs Saturday in London when
zone winners from Aylmer and
Stratford district met for the Lon-
don area championship.
Clarence Freeman of the Huron
Fish and Game Club and WO Dan
Truscott of the Sergeants' Mess
team, both qualified in the singles
competition to go to Ottawa to
compete in the provincial finals
on May 16. Ron Carter, Ingersoll,
(formerly a Clinton resident), also
won a berth in the singles com-
petition after eliminating 12 op-
ponents. .

Local firemen were called Sat-
urday to the farm of James Leish-
man, RR 2, Clinton (Highway 8,
west of Holrnesville), where child-
ren playing with firecrackers ac-
cidentally ignited straw on the
floor of a, shed,
Firemen, called by an unident-
ified woman passerby who noticed
smoke curling from the building,
found on arrival that the young-
sters had extinguished the out-
break with a pail of water.

Enjoy Music Program
On Monday evening, April 27,
residents of the Huron County
Home were entertained by Clar-
ence Petrie and his orchestra from
Stratford. —
The musicians for this occasion
were provided.Ay a_grant from the
Music Perfermanoe Trust Fund of
the Recording Industries with the
co-operation of Local 418 Ameri-
can Federation of Musicians. These
programs have been much enjoyed
by the residents.

running in the Mixed League aft-
er two nights of hectic playoff
bowling,
Last Wednesday evening the
Drivers, behind the steady bowl-
ing of Murray Johnston, defeated
the Clubs, On the same evening,
the Budgies, behind the bowling of
Harold Black, defeated the Hearts,
On Monday evening the Budgies
defeated the Drivers to gain a
berth in the finals while the Dob-
hers squeezed by the Stars, These
two teams will now bowl off a
five game total pin-fall to declare
a champion, this will be bowled
on Monday night, May 4.
Also in the playoffs Dave Reid
finally broke the hold Bert White
had on the high single when he
came up with a fine 371 game.
