Thankoffering
The Spring Thankoffering meet-
ing of the Wll,fS of Holmesville
United Church, is to be held in
the, church oh Tuesday, April 28,
at 2.30 p.m. Mrs. J. A. McKim,
Clinton, is to be the.special speak-
er.
WA. Meeting
The Woman's Association meet-
ing followed with Mrs. Reg, Miller,
the president, in the chair, Mrs.
Miller read the Scripture lesson
and gave the comments on it. An
invitation to the Wesley-Willis
Woman's Association meeting on
May 7, was accepted.
The WA decided to have a
Strawberry Supper in June. The
meeting closed with the hymn,
"Jesus United By Thy Grace" and•
prayer by Mrs. Miller, Hostesses
for the day were Mrs. S. Farquhar,
Mrs. C. Tebbutt and Mrs. K. Tre-
wartha.
WMS Favourites
The April meeting of the WMS
of Holmesville United Church, was
held in the basement of the chur-
ch, with Mrs. E. Potter's group in
charge. Mrs. Potter opened the
meeting with a prayer for loyalty.
The hymns used during the
meeting were the favourites of the
shut - in members. The hymn
"Breathe On Me Breath of God,"
the favourite of Mrs. Bert Tre-
wartha was sung.

town, and the dump property, This
dump is located in Hullett Town-
ship, just past the cemetery and

Of recent years, close sepervis-
ion of the property has been drop-

and papers were dumped indis-
veriminatelY, and the whole area
'was unsightly.

Garden Clubs Ready for Coming Season,
Seed For Various Projects Distributed

the patients, which enlightened all
there, on the conditions and needs
of the residents,
The purpose of the Auxiliary is
to aid the Home in bringing to
its residents comibrts which the
Home is not able to provide, such
as entertainment, a library, a craft
program, and other such programs
which the Auxiliary may from
time to time deem necessary to
the welfare of the residents; also
a tuck shop.
The next regular meeting is the
third Monday in May, at 2.30 p.m.
Anyone in the county that is int-
erested in helping an aged person
please come and join in the very
worthwhile cause. It is to be hop-
ed with the nice weather, different
groups of the ladies in surrounding
towns may join, An invitation is
extended to YOU and YOU.
Mrs. Irvin Tebbutt read the
Scripture lesson and gave the corn-
ments on it.' Mrs. H. Cudmore led
in prayer. Mrs. E. Potter gave a
reading on faith. Mrs. M. Jones
read an article on temperance and
Mrs. C. Tebbutt read an article on
Christian Stewardship.
The president, Mrs. C. Tebbutt
conducted the business. It was
planned to have used clothing
brought to the May meeting, to be
later packed, in a bale, and sent
to Vancouver to help Miss Belva
Howatt in her work • at First Un-
ited Church, that city.
The favourite hymn of Mrs. F.
Norman, "Sweet Hour of Prayer"
was sung. Mrs. E. Potter read a
few items from the *account of the
Presbyterial held in Chatham.
Reports of the Huron Presbyterial
held in Goderich were given by
Mrs, Frank McCullough and Mrs.
William Norman. Mrs. E. Potter
read an article about a Children's
Home in India, and a story "A Lit-,
tle Child. Shall Lead Him," writ-
ten by Miss E, -Bevan.
Mrs. H. Cudmore read a letter
and report of her work from a
missionary in India. The meeting
closed with the favourite hymn of
Work has commenced for the
4-H Homemaking Garden Clubs
in Huron County. Under the sup-
ervision of Home Economist Mrs,
Ian McAllister R,R 1, Zurich, the

CGIT Meets

The Varna Canadian Girls in
Training met on Thursday even-
ing, April 2; at the home of Mrs.
Gordon Hill. After the hymn
"Blessed Assurance," Miss Barbara
Taylor, assistant leader, read the
Scripture lesson.
Membership fee for the group is
to he 10 cents. To help raise a
little money, the group plans to
secure and sell "handy dandy oven
savers." The girls agreed that for
their study project they would
contact a missionary and follow
along with. them in their work.
Each member is to have one ar-
ticle completed in two months.
Miss Taylor invited the group to
her home for the next meeting.
Edith Dowson and Carol Hill were
apointed for the -worship services
and Shirley Mustard and Joyce
Hayter will lead the recreation at
the next meeting.
Joan McClymont, president, pro-
nounced the benediction. Several
minutes of recreation were enjoy-
ed by the members,
Mission Band

The Mission Band meeting op
ened with repeating the Mission
Band Purpose. The secretary's
'report was given by Carol Hill and
adopted on motion of Gary Mur-
ray. The treasurer's report Was
given by Shirley Mustard. The
collection was received, and dedi-
cated by Mrs. Stephenson.
Scripture was from I Corinth-
ians, 7-7. Mrs. Stephenson gave
a short lesson on "gifts" and led
in prayer.
Shirley Mustard read a poem.
Bonnie Sterling was appointed ex-
pense secretary. Mrs, Taylor read
the story.
Next month the roll call will be
answered by naming "your first
bird to be seen."

With Us", and the Benediction
given by Mrs, E. Potter.

gistrate in disposing of a charge
under the C.T.A.
This is high praise for our police
and at the same time serves again
to prove that the C.T.A, has.teeth.
In this ease the fine was $100 or
thirty days in jail, Other recent
offenders, hailed to court for sec-
ond offences, have been given jail
terms,
Dozens of bootleggers and bottle
club proprietors in Huron County
have been put out of business in
the past few years, Our Crown
Attorney and police are to be very
heartily commended.

Mrs. M. Vaire, Mrs. C. Simp-
son, Hensall, are spending a few
weeks in Florida.
Mrs. Roy Leppington, entered
Victoria Hospital, London, on Mon-
day afternoon.
Quite a number of ladies gall-
erectin the auditorium of the Hu-
ron County Home on Monday af-
ternoon, it being the first regular
meeting of the newly formed Aux-
iliary to the Home. Mrs. F. G.
Thompson, president, was in the
chair.
Ways and means of raising
money to supplement the stock
already in the hobby shop was
discussed. Fees were collected,
and a good display of work done
in the hobby shop was on hand,
Volunteers are badly needed to
assist Mrs. H. Johnston and her
committee in this project.
A full slate of officers is now
installed: Exeter was represented
and Mrs. Charles MacNaughton
was named honourary president of
,,the Auxiliary, Miss Dorothy
Parke, nurse at the home, gave
clubs have been organized, They
have received their seeds for pl-
anting, and have . held their first
meeting -of the season.
Clinton Club is being led by
Mrs. N. Tyndall and Mrs. C. El-
liott. Members are Elaine Brown,
Faye Johnston, Lynda McDonald,
all of Clinton; Barbara Corey,
Ethel, and Myrtle Collins, RR 4,

Home; Cathy Potter, RR 2, Clin-
