Funeral service was held án
Thursday afternoon, April 16, for
William Andrew Mason, late of 18
Clevedon Street, Downsview, Tor-
onto, who passed away on Mon-
day, April 13. Service was in
Flynn's Funeral Chapel, 1273 Wes-
ton Road, Mount Dennis, and in-
terment in Prospect Cemetery.

on August 30, 1876, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Mason, Mr. Mas-
on married Mary Jane Heicknan,
Exeter, and they lived in Clinton
for many years before moving to
Toronto.
Mr, Mason was a member of a
United Church in Toronto, and of
the Chosen Friends.
Surviving besides his sister, Mrs.
J, E. Cook, Clinton, is one son,
William R. Mason, Toronto, and
seven daughters, Mrs. R. A. (Dor-
othy) Gibson, Port Perry; Mrs, E.
(Edythe) Rippington, Mrs. G.
(Catherine) DuBouley, Mrs. J.
(Mildred) Nash, Mrs. A. E. (Mar-
garet) ,England, • Mrs. J. (Jean)
Wood and Mrs. F. (Elaine) Raby,
all of Toronto. •There" are several
grandchildren. Another sister pre-
deceased him 50 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. "Cap" Cook,
Albert Street, and Charles Cook,
Mill Street, attended the funeral
services.
Wilmot Haqcke
Following an attack of the 'flu,
Wilmot Haacke died at his home,
Goderich Township, on Saturday,
April 11, at the age of 79 years,
He had enjoyed a motor trip to
Miami, Florida, the latter part of
February and had also attended
several games of hockey during
Young Canada Week when he was
stricken with the 'flu, but had re-
covered sufficiently to be out a-
gain.
Deceased was born in Markham
Township and with his parents,
the late mt. and MN. William
Haacke, came to Goderich Town
ship when he was three years of
age.
He had lived in the township ev-
er since where he owned a 200
acre farm on highway 8. He was
a member of Zion United Church,
'Taylor's Corner, and also of the
Canadian Order of Foresters:
Mr, Haacke was very active in
the municipal life of the township
and eounty and had served his
township as councillor for five
years, In 1938 he was warden of
the County of Huron. He , was
Conservative in politics.
1-lis wife, the former Theresa
Rodges, predeceased him in 1944.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs.
Barrie (Grace) Walter, <Goderich
Township, and two granddatigh-
tors.
Rev. C. F. Peacock conducted
the funeral services at the Lodge
funeral home, Goderich, on Tues-
day afternoon, April 14, with bur-
ial in Maitland Cemetery. Pall-
bearers were William IVIugford,
Herb Lamprey, George C. Peagari,
Wesley Nott, Reginald Sturdy and
Reginald McGee.
Mrs. Arthur Groves
The death. occurred Saturday,
April 1,8, in Clinton Public Hospi-.
tai, of Mrs, Arthur proves, 52,
after an illness of about a year.
She was the former Gladys Jor-
don, a native of Morris township,
and .daughter of the late Mr. and

been a resident of Clinton for the
past 25 years, and was a member
of Ontario Street United Church
She is survived by her husband;
one .son, Clayton, at home; "two
daughters, Mrs, Mervin (Helen)
Nott, Seaforth and Mrs. William
(Ruth) Piper, London; one broth-
er, George Jordon, Beigrave; one
sister, Mrs. Al. Wheeler, Vancou-
ver, Funeral service was held
Tuesday afternoon from the Beat-
tie funeral home, Clinton, with
Rev. Grant Mills in charge

terment in Clinton Cemetery.
Mrs. Ida' M.' Dale
Mrs. Ida M. Dale, HulIett town-
ship, died Thursday, April 16, in
her 75th year in the Scott Mem-
orial Hosiptal, Seaforth, after an
illness of six weeks.
A daughter of the late Mr, and
Mrs. William Stevens, she was
born in Hallett, Her husband
Shepperd Dale, died seven years
ago.
Surviving are four sons, Allis-
son Dale, London; • Ernest, Elmer
and Carman Dale, all of Hullett;
five daughters, Mrs. Tom (Mar-.
tha) Smith, Mrs. John (Josephine) •
Harding, both of London; Mrs..
George (Jessie) Cunningham,
Spanish; Mrs. Joseph (Myrtle) •
Read, and Mrs. Reg (Ethel) Smith,
both of Clinton. Also 26 grand-
children end 17 great-grandchild-
ren,
Service was from the Ball and
Mutch funeral home, High Street,
Clinton, on Saturday afternoon,
by the Rev. Grant Mills of the
Ontario . Street United Church,
Clinton. Interment was in Clin-
ton Cemetery.

FtMeral services Were conducted
at Bridgeport last • Saturday for
Mrs.. Charlotte E. Oswald, who
passed away at Maple Rest Horne
at Tavistock.
She was the daughter of the
late Mr. And Mrs. Harry Beadle
and was born at Auburn on April
22, 1875, and attended school here.
A resident of Bridgeport for many
years, she was A% member of Ent-

Alan Cochrane

Residents of Bonsail and district
Were shocked to learn of the sud-
den. passing of Allan Cochrane, 62,
who died suddenly on Wednesday
evening, April 8.
Mr., Cochrane was at the farm
of Jim McEwan, west of Hensall,
looking over some live Stock, and
apparently was in the best of heal-
th at 4 p.m. When Mr. McEwan
went out at 7 p.m, he discovered
him dead, Death Was attributed
to a coronary thrombosis.
He was unmarried, and made his
home with his- sister, Mrs. Hugh
McMurtrie. Surviving are three
brothers, John, Seaforth; Jim, To-
ronto; Bill, Hinsdale, Illinois; sev-
en sisters, (Ida) Mrs. Ross Dick,
Goderich; (Agnes) Mrs, Albert
Not-they, Cameron, Ont.; (Folly),
Mrs. Hugh MeMurtrie, Hensall;*
(Ann) Mrs. R. S, Hopkins, Green-

Private funeral service was held
from the Bonthron funeral home,
Hensall, on Saturday, April 11, at
2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Charles
D. Daniel. Interment was made
in Hillsgreen cemetery.
