More Rabies. Near
Central Huron
Some In Cattle
More cases of rabies have been
reported and confirmed in the
past six weeks in the vicinity of
Seaforth, Clinton and Bayfield,
than in the time previous to that,
reports Dr. J. C. 1VIeLennan of
the Health of Animals Branch,
Canada Department of Health,
Seaforth.
Dr, McLennan indicates that the
danger of the disease lies in the
fact that dogs running loose will
attract a rabid fox who happens
to be in the area, and that if the
disease starts in the dog popula-
tion then it is of greater danger
to humans,
With cattle net yet outside,
there has been little occurrence
of the disease in them. Two steers
owned by Edison Forrest, RR 2,
Kipper!, have died of rabies, the
rest of his herd •of 40 are under
quarantine. Cecil Pepper shot a
fox on the farm of Elgin Row-
cliffe, RR 1, Hensall.
Also dead in Huron County of
rabies, have been two horses and
three sheep, and 18 other cattle.
