Salt Shortage Noted
At Goderich Dock
With February almost over,
more than twice as much sand
has been used on county roads
in Huron County this season than
last winter. Officials now are con-
cerned over a scarcity of sand and
salt for the icy roads,
A 5,600 ton cargo of Michigan
rock salt deposited on the north
side of Goderich harbour in Nov-
ember has been cleaned up ,by
trucks serving a large part of
Western Ontario.
Even fine salt supplies are run-
ning out. The new rock salt mine
in Goderich is not expected to be
operating for another five months.
