Mitchell Ties Series
With 9-4 Victory
Saturday Night
In a complete reversal from the
night before when they lost a 9-4
game) to the Colts, the Mitchell
Red Devils scored a 6-2 decision
to knot the best of five semi-finals
at one each.
Saturday's genie proved closer
than the score indicates, with Mit-
chell having a decided edge in
the first two periods and Clinton
outplaying them in the third.
Clinton had but 12 men dressed
to start the game and they were
reduced to 11 early in the first
period when Walters was assessed
with a game misconduct penalty
for arguing too long on where a
faceoff should be held. Perhaps
the features of the tussle, outside
of a robust second period when no
less than 12 penalties were called
was the great defensive work put
on by both teams, Gar Baker, Ray
Mady, Ken Doig and Jack Meriam
were extremely effective when
they were two men short. Al-
though Clinton was outscored in
the second period, they came out
on top in the fisticuffs, as But-
cher tangled with Ray Mady and
found himself on the short end
of the match.

Rest Room.
Investigation of possibility of
installing an underground rest
room in the library park by Reeve
W. Miller and Councillor' Bridle,
showed the idea impractical. Reeve
Miller and Deputy Reeve Crich
will interview the Library Board
with regard to possibility of in-
stalling rest room in the basement
of the library.
Numbering
Council authorized the Kinsmen
Club of Clinton to proceed with
numbering houses and business
places, and to solicit donations to
cover the cost of same.
Mayor B. Stanley spoke briefly
in praise of this project, stating
that the Kin was a lively club of
active young men. The mayor
hoped for the co-operation of the
people in the project, and hoped
everyone would make a generous
donation when called upon.
Councillor H. Bridle noted that
with the Kinsmen taking on this
project, the town expected to pro-
ceed to erect street signs at corn-
ers in the town.
Approve Minor Sport
Mayor Stanley, speaking for the
council, voiced his appreciation of
the work done by service clubs and
individuals in the excellent pre-
sentation of Minor Hockey Day
in Clinton.
Extra 50 Cents
Council gave two readings to an
amended by-law providing for
greater contribution to the maint-
enance of the sewerage system
from the PVC. The result will be
(if passed by the Municipal Board)
that an additional charge of 50
cents per month will be added to
each monthly invoice to owner or
tenant. Money raised will go to-
ward maintenance,
Housing
"If we could open up a sub-
division near to where the rental
housing project is built," said
Reeve Miller, "I believe we would
have the 'biggest building boom
ever seen in Clinton." He com-
mented on the fact that building
lots are getting scarce. They hard-
ly can be found where services
are available.
There is no definite plans yet
as to the site for the rental hous-
ing project, Reeve Miller noted
that it would be possible to split
the project in half, building six
homes in each place.
Councillor George Rumball com-
plimented the public, works com-
mittee for the good job of snow
removal at the end of Victoria
Street, saying that it looked bet-
ter than it had for years.
