During the late afternoon of January 28, a 1958 model car driven by Donald HUgill (18), south along William Street to On- tario Street, was in collision with a car driven by William H. Farrar (43), High Street, Clinton, who was proceeding east along Ontario Street, Considerable damage to both vehicles resulted. Gordon Bisset Gordon Bisset of Saltford Hei- ghts died suddenly at his home on Monday evening, February 9, in his 81st , year. He was born in Colborne Town- ship, a son of the late Samuel and Jane Bisset, and lived in Col- borne all his life. He was one of the proprietors of Bisset Brother Creathery, Saltford, whose pro- ducts have a wide distribution in this area. Reports of a routine nature were read and approved. A letter was read from the Canadian Can- cer Society telling of several films available to the public. It was agreed that the film, "The Doctor Speaks His Mind" be shown at the regular meeting on Tuesday evening, March 3. 'A large attend- ance is hoped for at this meeting. Announcement was made that on April 15 the spring meeting of Region 2, Hospital Auxiliaries, will be held in Tillsonburg. Mrs. W. C. Naughan, provincial presi- dent, will be the guest speaker. Mrs. 0, J. Stoll, St. Catharines, provincial secretary, will also be present. Light refreshments were served at the close of the meeting, after which cancer dressings were made. ' 0 World Day of Peayer At St. Andrew's Church The Women's World day of prayer service will be held in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Clinton, on Friday, February 13, at 2.30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Mrs. Grant Mills, Clinton. Pancake Supper There was a good attendance at the Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper in the Parish Hall under the auspices of Trinity Branch Women's Auxiliary. Mrs. E. Heard mixed the ingredients prescribed ,by the early church for this' oc- casion, while Mrs. Percy Weston and Mrs. R. J. Larson tended the cooking. Assisting in the kitchen were Mrs. Fred Fraser and Mrs. W, R. Elliott. Mrs. Lloyd Scotch- mer and Mrs. E. A. Featherston received. Mrs. C. Knuckey was at the door and Mrs. W. J. McLeod had charge, of the diningroom as- sisted by Mrs. J. B. Higgins. Jack- ie Weston, Roberta and Freda Mc- Leod and Sylvia Fitzsimons were the junior waitresses, Guild Meets The Trinity Church Guild meet- ing held in the Parish Hall after the Pancake Supper, was opened with prayer by the rector, the Rev. E. J. B. Harrison. Mrs. Per- cy Weston presided over the brief business session. Mrs. William E. Parker acted as secretary in the absence of, Mrs. Merton Merrier. Mrs. R. H. F. Gairdner gave the treasurer's report. There was a discussion concerning cards for use when _donations are given to the Chancel Guild as a memorial, Paper Drive The Scout paper drive on Sat- urday was quite a success. The boys, officers, and others worked hard. Those in charge hoped that people with trucks will volunteer to help in this good cause by tran- sporting the paper to London be- fore the end of the month. Skating Party Iitstead of the regular Monday night meeting of the Girl Guides, the girls and their leaders enter- tained the Brownies and their leaders to a skating party in Bay- field Arena and refreshments at Kerr's Lunch afterwards. They had a jolly' time and they thank those who made it possible, St. Andrew' WM'S There was a large attendance at the meeting of St. Andrew's Woman's Missionary Society on Thursday last at the home of the Misses Stirling. The president, Mrs. C. E. Peacock conducted the meet- ing. Plans were made for the sup- ply allotment and different mem- bers undertook to supply the items asked for: children's mitts and Ch- ristmas gifts. Arrangements were made to participate in the World Day of Prayer service on Febru- ary 13; also for the April meet- ing which will take the form of a pageant. ALL WEI,C014113 Accidents on Clinton Streets Cause Vehicle Damage; No One Injured Several accidents have occurred in the town of Clinton over the last two weeks, amounting to con- siderable damage to 'motor vehic- les„ although no injury to persons has been reported, Sunday, February 8, at about 11,30 a.m, a car clriVen by Emmer- son Edwards, 44, Princess Street, along Ontario Street, was in col- lision with one driven by John Haan (56), which was making a left hand turn from Raglan Street. A total of approximately $1,200 damage resulted. The Seed Fair has been held an- nually in Clinton District Colleg- iate Institute Auditorium for the past eleven years. This spring it will be held on March 6 and 7. Time is running out for farm- ers hoping to take a part in mar- , keting and handling of their own product, warned Mr. Greer. If they don't make a move soon, large corporaticins will have com- plete control of the agriculture in- dustry.
