The London Road Club met at
the home of Mrs. Norman Mann-
ing. The president, presided. Mrs.
Rooth, treasures', gave her yearly
report.
Thank you notes were read from
Mrs, S. Collins, Mr. and Mrs,
Cecil Cooper, Mrs, Bennett, for
her mother and Mrs. Doucette,
Mrs. Clarence Green, Mrs. Mary
Magee, Mrs. Sturdy, Sr., Clare
Magee and Susan Cahn. Mrs. 1.11
Plumsteel and Mrs, Sturdy also
thanked the club for gifts given
at Christmas time, Two donations
were received.
The roll was answered by paying
of fees, It was moved by Mrs.
Magee seconded by Mrs, Rooth
that the club send Mrs. Clegg
(Who is in hospital) 4 gift, Mrs.. Rooth had charge of the program
consisting of contests. A delic-
ious lunch was served by Mrs.

Rev. Grant Mills presided at the
opening of the annual meeting of
Turner's United Church. Ernie
Crich was appointed secretary for
the meeting and the coming year,
The treasurer Jack Turner report,
ed quite an increase over last
year on balance on hand.
Other reports were: WA, Mrs,
McGregor; junior congregation,
Mrs. Ed. Layton; Sunday School,
George Turner; young Peoples,
Robert Lawson; envelope stew-
ard and M. McGregor.
It was noted that the WA headed
by Mrs. Lawson had quite a
good year with a good balance,
and a vote of thanks was given to
them and all other groups with sp-
ecial mention to Mrs. Ed. Layton
for looking after the instruction
of the junior congregation.
A special vote of thanks was
given to the Rev. G. Mills for his
untiring efforts throughout the
year,
Secretary of the Sunday School,
George Turner read the minutes
of the last meeting followed by the
appointment of Frank Falconer
as superintendent who replaced
Howard Johns, who held that
Mr, and Mrs, Melvin Graham
were in London on Saturday ow-
ing to the illness of the lady's
father, C, Parke, a patient hi Vic-
toria Hospital.
Miss Georgine McCartney, nur-
se-in-training at Stratford, spent
the weekend with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Wilson McCartney.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hickey and
family, have moved into the vill-
age, where they are welcomed by
the community.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Shouldice
and Mrs. Shouldice's mother, Mrs.
Buffarn, St. Thomas, have moved
into Mrs. George Clifton's new
residence.
William Scott is a patient in
Victoria Hospital, London,
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Scott spent
the weekend in London with fr-
iends.
Drew Swan, Miss Edith Bow-
ey and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Swan
attended the funeral of the late
John Calvert in Ilderton on Fri-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGregor
attended the funeral of the for-
mer's aunt, Mrs. Wilfred Aiken-
head in Clinton on Saturday.
Church Annual
The annual meeting of Bruce-
field United Church was held Wed-
nesday evening, januarY 28 in the
school room of the church with
a fair attendance. Reports showing
progress in the various depart-
ments were heard.
Mrs. Edgar Allan was elected
secretary for the evening, and the
Rev. S. Davison was in the chair.
The church finances are in splend-
id condition with a bigger bal-
ance than that of last year.

Retiring members of the board
of managers, who had served for
three years were Clifford Hender-
son, Gordon Elliott and Archie
Mustard. Cliff was returned to of-
fice, and John Broadfoot and Ste-
wart Wilson were named to the
other two places.
Birthday congratulations were
sent to Mrs. Thomas Baird, Sr.,
from the congregation, Mrs. Baird
entered her 100th year on Jan-
uary 30,
At the close of the meeting,
lunch was served by the Woman's
Association.
Mrs. Alice Hall
Mrs. Alice Maude Hall, wife of
the late William Edwin. Hall, died
suddenly at her home, 153 Eliza-
beth Street, Goderich on Friday,
January 30.
She was born in Kingford, Eng-
land in 1897, and came to Cana-
da in• 1907. They resided for two
years in Benmiller and two years
in Goderich and then moved to
Bayfield in 1911, They farmed
there until the death of Mr, Hall
three years ago.
Mrs, Hall moved to Goderich
in 1956, ,She was a ,member of
the Anglican Chute!).
Surviving are one son, William
V. Hall, Toronto; one daughter,
Mrs. Elsie Lingard, Toronto; three
grandchildren and four great gr-
andchildren.
Service was from the Stiles fu-
neral home Monday afternoon, Fe-
bruary 2 by the Rev. E. J. B.
Harrison, Bayfield. Burial was in
Bayfield cemetery.

Funeral service was conducted
on Saturday afternoon, from the
Ball and Mutch funeral home,
High Street, Clinton, for Mrs. Wil-
fred D. Ailtentlead, who died at
St. Joseph's Hospital, Chatham on
January 29. The Rev, Roy Cook,
Chatham, and John Agulian, pas-
tor of the Clinton Baptist Church,
officiated. Interment vvaS in Cline.

Turner's Church Annual Hears Reports
Names New Officials For 1959:.
"Summary Day" for Women's
Institute branches in Huron Coun-
ty was held in the Legion Hall
here last Wednesday with 250 wo-
men representing 18 units. Tee
event was the climax of the pro-
ject "Sew to Save Dollars and
Make Sense," and many articles
made during the course were dis-
played.
Mrs. Ian McAllister, Zurich,
home economist for Huron who
has directed the project, which
commenced early last-fall, addres-
sed the large group, She compli-
mented the women on the fine
quality of the work completed.
Miss Dora Burke, clothing spec-
ialist with the home economics
service, Toronto, commented on
the project and each display.
The event was chaired by Mrs.
N. T, MeLaughlan, Wingham, with
Women's Institute Display Sewing
