A Meeting of the Electors of the Township of Tuckersmith
will be held in
"'TOWN HALL, SEAFORTH
MONDAY, DECEMBER 29
1958, 'for the purpose of nominating 'candidates for the offices
of Reeve 'and Councillors for 1959, and School Trustees
for the years 1959.60

Club Meets
Auburn Appetizers held their
Christmas meeting last Friday eve-
ning the home of the leader,
Mrs? -,Ed, Davies. Minutes were
read by Marie Leatherland,
Roll call was answered by each
member giving their favourite
fruit loaf_ recipe, most -girls .glv-
ing•.00e for a date loaf. Mrs.
drey Machan,. assistant leader
made, her date nut loaf and Mrs.
Davies deMonstrated on the meth-
od of .7' preparing ghigerbread and
the girls, assisted in the inficing
of the ingredients.

be improved, and a review on "A-
round. the Clock With Cereals"
was held.
Each girl prepared a day's menu
featuring cereals for.- the next
meeting, the roil call is to be an-
swered then by exhibiting the fin-
ished record books.
The, president, 'Marilyn Daer
was in charge of the exchange of
gifts; A dainty Christmas lunch
was served by Mrs. Davies and
Mrs. Audrey Machan. The next
meeting will be held on January
2 at Mrs. Davies' home,

The Women's Missionary Soc
iety of Knox Presbyterian Church
met in the Sabbath School room
for their Christmas meeting with
the ladies of St. Mark's Anglican
Guild as guests. The call to wor-
ship .was given by the president,
Mrs. Wes. Bradnock and the meet-
ing was opened by singing "Holy
Night" with Mrs. Donald Haines
presiding at the piano, followed
by prayer.
An "In Memoriam" service with
a minute's silence was observed
for the late Mrs. Fred Ross, who
had been a very active member
of the society, was conducted by
the president.
Rev. D. J, Lane read the scrip-
ture lesson and gave a very im-
pressive talk on the Christmas
Story and offered prayer. The
guest speaker, Rev, Robert Meal-
ley, rector of St. Mark's Anglican
Church was introduced by Mrs.
Thomas Haggitt. He spoke on
the true meaning of Christmas and
how we should observe the Holy
Day. Rev. Mealley was thanked
by Mrs, Wilfred Sanderson.

was elected president of the
United Dairy and Poultry Co-
operative and vice-president of
the United Co-operatives of On-
tario at ,the joint annual meet-
ing held in Toronto on Decemb-
erh 1 and 2.
on Taylor accompanied by Mrs.
R. J. Phillips on the piano. The
minutes were read by Mrs, Alvin
Leatherland. Mrs, Ed. Davies was
appointed acting treasurer for 'the
remainder of the year. The cor-
respondence was dealt with and
Mrs. Herbert Govier read the
thank-you notes. -
Reports of 1958 were given by:
Mrs. Donald Haines for the Ida
White C.O.C.; glad tidings, Mrs.
Duncan MacKay; welcome and
welfare, Mrs, Herbert Govier; lit-
erature and library, Mrs, Gordon
Dobie; home helpers, Mrs. Ray
Doer and supply by Mrs. H, Gov-
ier. • •
The offering was received by
Mrs. Keith Meehan and Mrs. Gor-
don Dobie and a prayer of thanks
offered. Mrs. John Graham and
Mrs. Herbert Govier were appoint-
ed to pack boxes for the shut-ins.
Mrs. Barry Arthur and son
Gregory visited last Tuesday with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Keller, Blyth.. .

The Ida White group of the
Children of the Church of Knox
Presbyterian Church met last Sat-
urday in the Sabbath School room
with mothers and members of the
WMS as guests. President Marilyn
Daer opened the meeting with the
call to worship, "Holy Night" was
sung with Margaret Haines at
the piano. The pledge was repeat-
ed with Marian Yungblut and Dar-
lene Stewart as flagbearers.
,The Christmas story as told in
the Gospel of St. Matthew was
read by Marjorie. Yungblut. "The
First Christmas Tree" was read

die Haines and all sang the offer-
tory hymn.
A piano solo, "A •Medley of
Christmas Hymns" was played by
Margaret Haines. The group sep-
arated for their story hour with
the senior group taken by Mrs.
Wilfred Sanderson and the junior
group by Mrs. Haines.• The meet-
ing closed by singing "Away in a
Manger" and prayer. A social
hour followed to bring to a close
their annual Christmas party
New officers for 1959 are: past
president, Marilyn Daer; presid-
ent, Margaret Haihes; first vice-
president, Barbara Sanderson;
secretary, Barbara MacKay; assis-
tant secretary, Margaret Sander-
son; treasurer, Mary Sanderson;
assistant treasurer, Linda And-
rews.
