"In supporting such action", Mr. Hill continued, "recent increases in freight rates and farm equip- ment prices have added greatly to the cost price squeeze, This, coupled with falling farm prices, place the Canadian agricultural in- dustry in a very shaky position. Lower prices for eggs, dairy pro- ducts, soya beans and other cash crops, fruits and vegetables, hOgs, and poultry demand government action which has been sadly lack- ing to date," said Mr. Hill. The annual meeting of the In- terprovincial Farm Union Council in Winnipeg, December 16-17 gave considerable study to planning a large delegation in support of a demand for deficiency payments on all agricultural products. Considerable publicity, in the western provinces, has been given to the posSibility of a mass delega- tion in support of deficiency pay- ments for grain, Mr. Hill express- ed an opinion that if the points of 11 reference were broadened to in- clude all agricultural products, Ontario farmers would participate. retiatocithecioctottetetozittonoomir,,, 4
