Sidney McArthur A prominent Hensel]. resident, Sydney Ellis McArthur, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, while on a hunting trip at Mani • towaning on Manitoulin Island. He was in his 64th year. Prior to moving to Hensall, Mr. McArthur farmed on the second concession of Hay Township. While in Hensall he was employed at General Coach Works. He was a past president of the Hensel] Legion, a past noble grand of Hensall IOOF Lodge, a member of the Hensall school fair board and an elder of the Cannel Pres- byterian Church in Hensall. His wife predeceased him 11 years ago. He is survived by one son, Don- ald, Quebec; four sisters, Mrs. Roy Lamont, Zurich; Mrs. Stewart Mc- Queen, Hensall, Mrs. Peter Man- son, Exeter, Mrs. Jack Reid, Lon- don; and one brother, Raye, Tucks erSrnith; three grandchildren. The. Hensall IOOF Lodge held service in the Bonthron funeral chapel, Hensall, on Saturday night at 7.30 p.m. A public funeral was held in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. Charles Daniels and Rev. D. G. McMillan, Goderich officiating. In- terment was made in Exeter Cem- etery. The Hensel), Legion took part in the graveside service. Handy, RR 4, Clinton, has given birth to the first twins to be born at RCAF Station Parent, Quebec. Susan, 5 lbs. 8 oz. and Sandra, 4 lbs. 9 oz. first saw the light of day, on November 16 at that Northern Quebec Air Defence outpost where their father, Corporal Theodore Alvin Fleming is a radar technician, (RCAF Photo) Saturday. McKenzie passed away suddenly at his home on Erie Street, Clinton, on Monday even ing, He was a well-known machine operator and contractor, and had lived in Clinton for the past seven years, Previously he had operated a farm on Concession 2, Stanley Township. Born near Brucefield, he was a son of Mrs. Hugh McLaughlan, Egmondville, and the late William McKenzie. He was married to Jes- sie McCullough, formerly of Gode- rich Township. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Bruce and James; two daughters, Sharon and Barbara; four brothers, Reeve William Mc Kenzie, Exeter; R obert Mc- Kenzie, Hensall; Phillip, Stanley Township; the Rev. Andrew Mc- Kenzie, Acton; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Jean) Currie, Clinton; Mrs. Irvine (Marguerite) Duch- arme, Brussels. Private funeral service will be held this afternoon at the Beattie funeral home, Rattenbury Street East, commencing at two o'clock. by the Rev. D. J. Lane. Mrs. F. W, Johnston returned home last week from a visit with friends in Detroit and Windsor. Pongracz, the former Doris Chuter, Varna, died in London on Tuesday, November 25, in her 42nd year. Funeral ser- vices will be held on Friday at 1.30 p.m. at Logan funeral home, London, with interment in Baird's Cemetery, Brucefield. Surviving are her husband; her mother, Mrs. Susan Chuter, Varna; two sons, John and Eric, London; four brothers: Wilfred, Thomas and Elliott, Varna; Harvey, Owen Sound; five sisters: ,Mrs. Norman Walper, Mrs. Walter McBride and Mrs. Elmer McBride, Exeter; Mrs William Townsend, Goderich; Mrs. Fred Carter, London. Lamarche-Hoy St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Clinton, was the setting on Satur- day, November 15, for the wedding of Virginia Ann, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hoy, Clinton to Adrian Joseph Lamarche, RCAF Station Uplands, Ottawa, son of the late Adrian and Mrs. Lamar- che, Montreal. The church was dec• orated with white and yellow chrysanthemums. The Rev. E, Reid-Lewis performed the cere- mony. John Sharp, Clinton, was soloist and Miss Florence Evans. Clinton, organist. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a beige suit with white accessories and pink corsage. She was attended by Mrs. P. Gray. Clinton, wearing a brown suit with white corsage. The groomsman was F/0 P. Gray, RCAF Station Clinton. A reception was held at the bride's home which was decorated with a white bell and pink and white streamers. The table, cover- ed with a hand-made lace table cloth, was centred with a three- tier wedding cake. The bride's mother wore blue taffeta with a pink corsage. The groom's gift to the bride was a sapphire necklace, bracelet and earrings. For travelling, the bride chose a beige suit, black and white tweed coat, and black acces- sories. Following a wedding trip to Montreal and Ottawa, including a four-day visit to Montreal, the young couple. will reside at 33 Craig St., Ottawa. dN A The Mothers Study Group of Wesley-Willis United Church met Tuesday evening, November 25, at the home of Mrs. Billie Hanly, Mrs, Alvin Wise opened the meet- ing with a poem entitled "Isn't The World A Lovely ?lace?" This was followed by the devotional. Mrs. Harold Wise gave an interest- ing outline of the many things the children are taught in Kin- dergarden.
