When the Little Grey Cup was won on the playing field
at Adastral Park last Thursday, Warrant Officer G. A. B.
"Rusty" Brown was on hand to make the presentation, Captain
of the winning Ticats, smiling Brian Woodson, received the
award, which was presented this year by Jet Cleaners; establish-
ed at Adastral Park, This marked the close of the beginning year
of football for the pemanent married quarters at Station Clinton.

Staging an Inter Club meeting last Friday
night, the Kinsmen Club of Clinton found their
attendance cut down considerably by the first
snow of the season. Present were, back row from

D. Thorndike gave a report of
Poppy sales; these being down
slightly from last year.
Gordon Dalgliesh and Jim Gra-
ham explained a new service at
Clinton Public Hospital whereby
persons can be called upon to give
blood for transfusions when whole
blood is needed immediately. Be-
fore this can be done a person's
blood must be tested and classif-
ied, Mr. Dalgliesh was willing to
take names of volunteer blood
donors and arrange to have their
blood tested at the hospital, pre-
ferably in groups.
The Legion is holding a social
evening and dance Saturday night,
November 29, at which the Paul
Bros. from Kirkton will be the
entertainers.
Ernest Walton was not present
at the meeting when his name was
drawn for the attendance prize,
therefore next month's prize will
be worth $25. Bill Burdge won the
regular monthly draw prize,
Exeter Legion installation team
will install the Clinton Branch
officers at the next general meet-
ing on December 15.
Andrew Wesley Johnston, 25,
employed with the Ontario Hydro
Electric Power Commission, rural
office in Clinton, was found dead
Sunday in a wrecked car, one mile
north of Hensall on Highway 4.
The car had gone into the ditch
and crashed against a tree.
An inquest, according to Crown
Attorney Glenn Hays, Goderich,
will be held, but no date has yet
been set.
Mr. Johnston, known as "Andy"
'locally moved here in 1952.. Since
then he had served three years
in the Canadian Army, and was
again here employed with the rur-
al hydro.
Hospital Auxiliary To
Meet Monday Night
The regular meeting of the Wo-
men's Auxiliary to the Clinton
Public Hospital will be held in the
Nurse's Residence on Monday,
December 1, at 8 p.m,
and two trustees for the Township
School Area. Present officials are:
Reeve Harvey Coleman, deputy re-
ve Harvey Taylor; councillors Al-
vin Ran, Jack Scotehmer and Ern-
est Talbot; school trustees, com-
pleting term are George Cameron
and Clifford Henderson.
In Goderich Township, nomina-
tion meeting is in the council ch-
amber, Clinton Town Hall, on Fri-
day afternoon from 1 to two o'cl-
ock, for the offices of reeve, four
councillors and three trustees for
the Township School area.
Present officials are: Reeve John
'Neves, councillors Walter J. Per-
bes, Grant Stirling, Kenneth Mer-
rier and C. B, Laithwaite. Public
school trustees completing two
year term are E, Mcllwain, H.
Oakes and George Potter,
Following each of the nomina-
tion meetings, a general munici-
pal meeting is held, when officials
report on the year'S work, and
ratepayers are given an ,opperturi-
ity to receive answers to their
questions.
Surviving is one brother and
three sisters. Both his parents
pre-deceased him. Funeral service
was held Wednesday afternoon,
November 26, from the Rumbley-
Shoemaker funeral home, Acton,
and interment was at that place.

Fire At Auburn
Destroys Residence
Fire at Auburn last Friday left
three persons homeless. The blaze
destroyed the home of Mr, and
Mrs. Charles McAdam and their
infant son, Herbert, living on con-
cession 6, Colborne Township.
The three escaped with only the
clothes they wore. The little fam-
ily was living in the former SS 8
schoolhouse, now owned by Ray-
mond Mitchell. The Goderich rural
fire department was summoned by
a neighbour Wilmer Hardy.
Only furniture saved was a re-
frigerator, oil stove and washing
machine which were carried out
by truck drivers working on the
new development road stretching
from Auburn to Carlow. Also sav-
ed was the family dog.

Ticats Take Home
Little Grey Cup
At Season's Close
Steven Truseott was the star of
the Ticat team on the Adastral
Park playing field last Thursday
afternoon, when the finals in the
first battle for the Little Grey
Cup were carried ant, Steve made
three touchdowns for his team, and
one rouge.
Captain Brian Woodson tallied
one touchdovvn and a convert to
uphold the Tieata lead.
The Roughriders took a 26-13
loss in this first Season at the Sta-
tion, with John Robichaud scoring
the two touchdowns, and Mike
Barns getting a convert.

Good news for all the small
children in town! Santa Claus
is due to make his visit this
year on December 13, and he's
planning to bring something
for everyone. More details

Mrs. Carman McPherson, Clin-
ton, will be a guest on, "M'Lady",
CKNX-TV, on Monday, December
1, to demonstrate the making of,
"Stuffed Toys" for Christmas. Pro-
gramme time , 3.30 p.m.
Hector Kingswell Served as the
able chairman of the nomination
meeting held in the council cham-
ber of the town hall, Clinton, on
Monday night when 25 names
were put forward to fill the 14
seats open in municipal offices.
Special guest present was Elston
Cardiff, Brussels, the Member of
Parliament for Huron riding, at
Ottawa, Mr. Cardiff stated that
he had come particularly to set at
ease those people who were con-
cerned with rumors that a new
peat office was planned for Clin-
ton.
Mr. Cardiff had been in touch
with Howard Green, Minister of
Public Works, who had no know.,
ledge of plans for such a build-
ing. Huron's representative said
he had told Mr. Green that Clinton
did not want a new post office,
arid they did not want it removed
from its preSent location,
Cardiff stated that he had ap-
proached the Department to Sug-
gest that the front of the Post Of-
fice be renovated, So that the temp.
orary and unsightly entrance ways
could be done away with, and his
suggestion was that if more room
were needed the building could be
extended more toward the point,
and the entrance way changed to
allow for more rooin
Another guest at the meeting
was John DeeveS, reeve of Goder-
ich Township, who spoke briefly
at the close of the meeting, bring-
ing greetings of the township, and
thanking council for permission to
hold that municipality's meeting
in the town council chamber on
Friday afternon, November 28,
John Livermore, clerk, received
the nominations prior to the cit-
izens meeting, and Ernest Radford
acted as secretary, posting the
names as they were received. %
Over 80 Birthday Club
On Sunday, November 30, Ed-
ward Smith will celebrate his 92nd
birthday at his home on Raglan
Street.

Dead is Joseph Andre Gauvin,
19, who suffered injuries similar
to those of his companions.
The two couples had been walk-
ing from the Station into town,
along the left lane of the highway,
at about midnight Friday, Robert
McClymont, 18 years old, Varna,
was proceeding by car in the op-
posite direction, and had turned
out to pass a car also going to-
ward the Station. McClymont was•
unable to avoid the pedestrians, •
who were apparently on the trav-
elled portion of the highway.
Gauvin was killed instantly.
The others were removed to hos-
pital.
The accident occured at the foot
of a depression in the highway,
just north of the four residences
at the northerly limit of Station
Clinton.
Constable Alec Twaddle, OPP,
Goderich, investigated the ac-
cident.
Coroner Dr. F. G. Thompson,
Clinton, and Huron County Crown
Attorney Glenn Hays, Goderich,
state that an inquest will be post-
poned, pending the recovery of the
injured persons.

Farming Report

"Most of the cattle are now
housed for the winter, and are in
very good condition for winter
feeding and milking. Turnip crop
is practically all harvested—early
stored crop is not keeping as well
as expected.
Poppy Fund Totals
Over $2,200 Now
Receipts of approximately $773
when all collections are made, is
the total of sales of wreaths and
poppies made by the Poppy Com-
mittee of Clinton Legion Branch,
according to 3. D. Thorndike,
chairman, Poppy Day was held
on November 8, in connection with
the Remembrance Day commem-
oration on November 11.
At present the local Poppy com-
mittee funds total over $2,200. This
money is used to help needy fam-
ilies either of veterans or others
in this locality,

Hydro Employee Killed:
When Car Crashes Tree
An 18-year old airman is dead,
and another 21 years old lies in
critical condition in Westminister
Hospital, London, as a result of
a collision with a car on Highway
4, near RCAF Station Clinton, last
week. On Tuesday evening, Jos-
eph R. E. Falardeau had not re-
gained consciousness.
Two airwomen also were injur-
ed: Marie Danielle Chandonnet, 18,
who suffers two fractured legs,

adian Legion to pick a second
vice-president and an eight-man
executive committee. Jim Graham
and Ed. Porter are vieing for the
vice-president position.
. Eight executive members will
be elected from a slate of eleven.
26 had been nominated for this
committee but only 11 let their
names stand. Those standing are:
either Porter or Graham which-
ever does not become vice-presi-
dent, and Bob Draper, George
Campbell, W. 3. Counter, Laurie
Colquhoun, Douglas Thorndike,
Harold Black, Art, Mountford,
R. D. Fremlin, Reg. Cudmore and
Bill Harris.
All other Legion offices are fil-
led by acclamation R. B. Camp-
bell, secretary and K. W. Colqu-
houn, treasurer, were returned to
office when others nominated fail-
ed to qualify. Cameron Proctor as
president and 3, E. Dale as first
vice-president were acclaimed at
nomination meeting in October.
Donations made were: $10 to
the Muscular Dystrophy funds
campaign being conducted locally
by' the Clinton Volunteer Fire
Brigade; $15 to the John Calvin
Christmas Fund, a Legion branch
at Beck Memorial Sanatorium,
London.
The treasurer's report revealed
that over $4,000 had been turned
over to the general fund by the
bingo committee so far this year,
And hall rentals this year have
been $962.
Federation Annual
At Londesboro
Gordon W. Greer, a dairy farm-
er from Ottawa, and president of
the Ontario Federation of Agricul-
ture for the second year, will be
the guest speaker at the annual
meeting of the Huron Federation
in Londesboro today.
Mr. Greer heads a farm group
lead by a 29-member board of gov-
ernors from all parts of the pro-
vince. Locally, these are A. H.
Daynard, Staffa; Louis Davis,
Owen Sound and Lloyd Jasper,
Mildmay. First vice-president is
William Tilden, Harriston.
