Clinton HU 2-9363 Toy Department and Hobby Section Married in Goderich MR. AND MRS, ROBERT VanREISEN, Clinton„ were married in Victoria United Church, Goderich, on November 8, by the Rev. S. A, Moote. The bride is Helen Joyce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Charles Sowerby, Goderich, and her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Kurt VanReisen, Albert Street, Clinton. (Photo by MacLaren's) Mr. and Mrs. T. Tollefson Mrs. Brownlee, Kippen, received word this week from Zion, Illinois, that Mr. and Mrs, Theodore Toll- efson had been in a motor acci- dent. Their car was struck by a car driven by a drunken driver, and pushed into the ditch, over- turned, and ended in a field. Mrs. Tollefson was killed in- stantly and her husband died two days later. A double funeral was held on November 13. Mrs. Tollefson was the former Bertha Potter, Holmesville, and Porter's Hill and a niece of Henry and William Ivison and Mrs. Brownlee, Kippen. William Nesbitt Former acquaintences in Gode- rich Township are advised of the death of William Nesbitt, which occurred in October at Lethbridge, Alberta. He had reached the ripe old age of 91 years. Mr. Nesbitt left farming on the 16th concession of Goderich Town- ship in 1908 arid with his wife formerly Emma Acheson, went to Medicine Hat., but later moved to Lethbridge. He leaves four married daught- ers in Alberta and a widowed sis- ter Mrs. Sara Acheson, with whom he made his home for the past 20 years since his wife passed on. E. Peacock, Bay- field, officiated on Saturday, No- vember 1.5, at the first marriage to be held in Taylor's Corners, United Church, Goderich Town- ship, when Wilda Ernestine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wilson, became the bride of Wil- liam Norton Cudmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Cudmore, Brant- ford. The young couple received a white Bible from the congrega- tion. The bride wore a floor-length gown of chantilly lace and tulle net over taffeta, the fitted bod- ice of lace featuring a sabrina neckline appliqued with sequins and seed pearls, and lily point sleeves of lace. The back of the skirt fell in tiers appliqued in se- quins in rose design, Her fingertip veil was held in place by a crown of seed pearls and sequins. She carried a cascade of red American Beauty roses interlaced with fern and orange blossoms, Miss Joan Cudmore, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid and chose a floor-length pale green strapless net gown with matching jacket and headdress with rhine- stones, Site carried a cascade of Talisman roses. Ushers were Lawrence Wilson, brother of the bride and Alvin Cudmore, brother of the groom, Norman Baldwin, Brantford was soloist and sang the "Lord's Pray- er" and "The Wedding Prayer". He was accompanied by Mrs. William Cox, Goderich Township, who also played traditional wedding music. The reception for 60 guests was held in Porter's Hill Church. The bride's table was centred with a three tier wedding cake and pale green tapers. Autumn col- oured flowers and running vines of ivy decorated the tables. The bride's mother received in' royal blue crepe with white pearls and a corsage of pink carnations. The groom's mother wore royal blue wool with matching acces- sories and a corsage of pink carna- tions. Guests were from Toronto, Port Hope, Burlington, Hamilton, London, Varna, Bayfield, Clinton and Brantford. For travelling the bride donned a turquoise blue knitted suit with grey fur jacket and turquoise necklace and earrings, with black accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. After a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and Southern United States, the young couple will live in Brantford. Prior to her wedding a miscel- laneous shower was held at the home of Mrs. Joames McMillen, Goderich Township, with neigh- bours attending. Another group of friends gathered at Mrs. Keith Miller's, Goderich Township, when the bride received a trilite and scatter rug. The young adults of Colborne United Church, Brantford, pres- ented the couple with a pop-up toaster. 'The Stiminerhill Ladies Club met On November 12 at the home -of 1Virs, Fred 'Voclalen, with 27 memb- era and three visitors present, President Mrs, Neville Forbes op- ened the meeting by reading a poem. Mrs, Charles Merrill reported on the Clinton Hospital Auxiliary meeting she attended. Mrs. Ezra Ellis and Mrs. Clayton Ellis are to attend the next auxiliary meet- ing„ A donation of $10 was made to the Springhill Disaster Fund. There will be' an exchange of Christmas gifts at the next meet- ing, The program consisted of a piano solo. by Mrs. Ross Lovett a, reading by Mrs, George Wright, "When Father Carved the Duck", and a reading by Mrs. Clark Ball, "Wear Out or Rust .Out". The next Meeting will be at the home of Mrs, Peter Wester bout on December 10. Roll call will be answered by a Christmas verse. On program commit- tee are Mrs. Earl Blake, Mrs. Cummings, Mrs. Ezra Ellis, Mrs. Chester Farquhar, Mrs. John Armstrong Mrs, Sohn Armstrong passed a- way in the Scott Memorial Hos- pital, Seaforth, on Monday, Nov- ember 17, 1958. She was the form- er Mary Mabel Moffat, and was in her 66th year. Her parents were the late Mr. and. Mrs. John Moffat, Mrs. Armstrong was a faithful member of Goshen United Church. Surviving besides her husband are: one daughter, Mrs. Garnet (Dorothy) Mousseau, Hensall; six sons, Allan, Varna; Kenneth, Mon- treal; Leslie, Bayfield; Floyd, rich; Ronald, Woodstock and How- ard, at home. There are also two brothers: Lawrence, Regina, Sas- katchewan; Alfred, Kippen; three sisters: Mrs. J. IVIcHeath, Hensall; Mrs. Dan Kilpatrick, Leedale, Al- berta; and Mrs. Vina Rathwell, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Funeral services will be held from the Bonthron funeral chapel in Hensall on Wednesday, Nov- ember 19, at 2 p.m. Interment will be made in the Bayfield Cemetery. The Rev. T. J. Pitt will officiate.
