motored to Buffalo on Tuesday
to attend the funeral of their aunt,
Mrs. Wood, who was formerly
Miss Nelson of this community.
Mr. and Mrs. Willows Mount-
ain and Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Jos-
ling spent last weekend with Cous-
ins, Mr. and Mrs. Catherwood,
Harrow.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
mer Howatt on Sunday were Mr.

Mr. and Mrs. Heber Shute, Kirk-

by the Foresters wives in Const-

an uncle of Mr. East,

Peter,.Richard, Douglas and Kar-
en, who have spent the past four
months with the children's grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford
Labb on Albert Street, sailed from
Montreal on Friday to join their
husband and father in Metz, Fran-
ce, where he is stationed with the
Canadian Army Dental Corps.

The Rev. Canon Turner officiat-
ed at a wedding in St. Stephen's
Anglican Church, Port Arthur, on
November I, 1958, when Patricia
Anne Brown exchanged, vows with
Thomas Harold Peacock. The bride
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs,
Ivan Brown, Port Arthur, and the
groom is the son of Rev, and Mrs.
C, B. Peacock, Bayfield.
The bride chose a floor-length
gown of silk faced skinner satin,
cut on princess lines, with long
sleeves ending in lily points over
the wrists. Accenting the decol-
lete neckline as well as the bunt-
ing hemline were seed pearls and
irridescent sequins. A crown, of
pearls, and sequins held her flog-
ertip veil and she carried a bou-
quet of red roses.
Mrs, Terry Beatty was matron
of honor wearing a cocktail-length
gown of coral pink velveteen. The
bridesmaids, Miss Betty Brown,
sister of the bride„ and Miss Glor.-
ia Cameron were dressed alike in
coral pink velveteen, cocktail
length.
For travelling the bride wore
olive green wool dress with mat-
ching accessories. After a few days
in Minnesota, USA, the couple will
reside in IVIanitouwadge, where the
groom is employed with the Ont-
ario Paper and Pulp Company.

Bride-Elect Feted
Prior to November
Wedding Date
On Saturday, November 1, Mrs.
Doug Freeman, Mary Street, gave
a surprise shower for Mary Liver-
more. 25 neighbours and friends
attended. She was presented with
a trilite lamp and numerous other
gifts, after which the hostess serv-
ed a bountiful lunch.
On Friday, November 7, a show-
er was given by Miss Calista Coun-
ter at the home of her mother,
Mrs. Norman Counter, with about
20 friends present. Bingo was play-
ed. The bride-to-be received mis-
cellaneous gifts, after which lunch
was served.
On Saturday, November 8, a
surprise, miscellaneous shower was
held at the home of Mrs. Cliff
Brown, Auburn. About 30 friends
and neighbours attended, Lunch
was served by the hostesses at
the close of the evening,

A pretty double ring wedding
ceremony was conducted in Vic-
toria Street United Church, God-
erich, on Saturday afternoon, Nov-
ember 8, by the Rev. S. A, Moote,
when Helen Joyce, daughter of Mr,
and Mrs, Charles Sowerby, Goder-
ich, became the bride of Robert
VanReisen, Clinton, son of Mr, and
Mrs. Kurt VanReisen. Yellow and
bronze 'mums decorated the chur-
ch.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore waltz-length gown
of Chantilly lace and nylon net ov-
er taffeta, featuring a sabrina
neckline and long tapered lily-
point sleeves. Her tiara of se-
quins and seed pearls held a fing-
ertip nylon net veil.
Miss Donna Feagan, Goderich,
cousin of the bride, was brides-
maid in waltz-length gown of blue
nylon net over taffeta with off the
shoulder neckline, trimmed with
rhinestones, and carried a bouquet
of pink carnations.
Miss Lynne Gibbings, Clinton
and Miss Sharon Ryan, Goderich,
both nieces of the bride, were
flowergirls in blue and pink nylon.
Frank Bissett, Goderich was or-
ganist. Kenneth VanReisen, Clin-
ton, was his brother's groomsman.
Ushers were Barry Sowerby, bro-
ther of the bride and Douglas Fea-
gan, cousin of the bride,
At the reception in the Tiger
Dunlop Inn, at Dunlop, the bride's
mother wore avocado green vel-
vet with corsage of white carna-
tions; and the groom's mother
wore aqua marine taffeta with a
corsage of pink carnations.
