Dr. Stekkety Was called to IVA&

the serious illness of his mother,

in Holland the next afternoon.

'Harold Sprung met with an ac-
cident while working in the barn
a week ago. He fell from the hay
mow and injured a vertebra in
his back. At present he is in Clin-
ton hospital, but hopes to return
home soon.

Stanley Township Council, at
their regular meeting on Tuesday,
August 5, in Varna town hell,
gave the third and final reading
to by-law No. 9, regarding the
Hess-Green sub-division at the
lakefront. The by-law was passed.
The council: set the 1958 tax rates
'as' follows*
'
county-13.3 mills,
township-9 mills, general school
rate-2.7 malls, high school rate-
8.4 mills, and the school area
rate-8 mills. These rates apply
to farm and residential, the rates
for commercial 'and industrial will
be slightly higher.
Harvey Coleman, the reeve of
Stanley 'township, was 'appointed
as inspector of the Stanley Big
Drain,
