Varna Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Stewart Robinson, Toronto, were
married in Varna United Church on Saturday, July 5, by the
Rev. T. J. Pitt. The bride is Margaret Elizabeth, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. McClymont, Varna, and the groom is
the son of Mrs. Gretta Robinson, Toronto. They are living
in Toronto.

manfs Missionary Society cif the

With Mrs. Elmer Potter's' group in.
charge. Mrs. Potter took as the
theme of the meeting "In the
Garden", and the hymns and Sc-
ripture lesson followed the theme,
Mrs. W. Biggin read the Script-
ure and Mrs. E. J. Trewertha led
in prayer. Mrs. E, A, Yeo read an
article entitled, "A Garden En-
closed". Mrs, E. J. 'Itrewartha
read a poem "He Planted a Gard-
en" and Mrs. E. Potter read "Ad-
ventures in a Garden".
The business was conducted by
the president, Mrs. N. Heard. Mrs.
E. Potter read an article on al-
coholism. Mrs. F, Mulholland read
a letter from Miss Rose a mission-
ary in Korea. Mrs. K. Harris gave
a reading about Lepers in Angola,

Mrs. Howard Currie and Doug-
las returned Saturday from a five
week motor trip to the West
Coast, with' Mrs. 'Currie's brother,
the Rev. Andrew H. McKenzie
and his daughter Joanne, Acton.
They went out via the southern
route, travelling through 13 states
and came back through the four
Western Proviinces of Canada,
then turned south again to travel
the new bridge at the Mackinac
Straits and through Michigan.
While in British -Columbia they
visited Mr. and Mrs. Tom Martin
(nee Marjorie Currie) and daugh-
ter Brenda Kim, at New West-
minister. B. A. McEwen
Berton A. McEwen, a former
businessman in 'Clinton, passed a-
way on July 17 at his home in
Victoria B.C. Funeral service at
Hayward's Chapel in that city on
July 21.
Mr. Mc'Ewen once operated a
grocery business here in Clinton,
in the early 1900s, in the build-
ing now occupied by Pickett and
Campbell Ltd. He was succeeded
by the late E. E. Hunniforci nn
that store. -
He was initiated in Clinton Lod-
ge A.F. and A.M. No. 84, on April
29, 1910, receiving 'his degree in
the same year. Shortly after-
wards he went to Western Canada
and located in Calgary. He con-
tinned his membership in the
lodge up to the time of his death.
He lived 'in Calgary for many
years, and was one of the pion-
eers in the development of the
Turner Valley oil field south of
Calgary. He moved to Victoria,
B.C., five years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ag-
nes McEwen, 2490 Cadboro, Bay
Road, Victoria; one daughter Mar-
garet Isabel McEwe,n, also of Vic-
toria; one brother, William Cecil
McEwen, Calgary, Alta.

When the Clinton Women's In-
stitute holds a picnic in the Clint-
on Community Park, commencing
at 2.30 didliock.
Roll call for the event will be
answered, by stating "what I most
admire in' elderly women".
Mrs. M. Wiltse will be convener
of the: program committee, and
Mrs. T. O'Connell is in charge of
the social committee. Those who
attend are asked to bring dishes
and a "wellefilled picnic basket".

Dr. R. Branden
The death occurred in Wisconsin
State Hospital of Dr. Richard
Brandon on August 5, as a result
of injuries received in a motor
accident. Dr. Branden, formerly of
Reading, England, and of London,
Ontario, had been engaged in post-
doctoral studies in bio-chemistry
at University of Wisconsin. He is
survived by his wife, the former
Violet Fremlin, and a son Geof-
fery,
