New Ham- burg had also won the two pre- vious games in the best of five finaila: 8-3 in Clinton on July 29, and 10-2, in New Hamburg last Friday, The final game was near-per- feet baseball for the first five innings. Then the Clinton kids, seemed to fall apart, allowing New Hamburg to scare nine runs in the sloth inning on, only four hits. St., Clinton, died: ih -Clinton Public Hospital late Tuesday evening August 5, aged 71. Born in Vornlosa, Ont., be was the son of the late Mr, and Mrs; Nicholas Recker. lie came to Clinton 43 years ago, and had been self employed here as A, carpenter and in the roofing business. For the past few yews he was' the owner and operator of Cliaten'S only trailer camp. He was 'a member of St, Jos- eplf.,s, Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. His! wilt°, the former Agnes Bunernan, died in the spring of this' year. He is survived, by one son Frank, Kitchener; two bro- thers. Harvey, Neustadt, and, Ecb. ward', Demerton; by ten grand- children and one greategrandahild. Rested at the Ball and Mach funeral home, Clinton. until Fri- day morning, when requiem high mass was sung at 9.30 a.m. at St, Joseph's Church Burial is to be fin the Roman Catholie section of the Clinton Cemetery. Murray McEwan Funeral service was conducted in Ball and Mutch funeral home here, on Saturday, August 9, for Murray McEwan, late of Mary Street, who passed away in Clin- ton Public Hospital on Thursday, August 7 after a week's illness. Service was candgcted by the Rev.' J. A. McKim of Wesley- Willis United Church, of which Mr. McEwan was a member. Pall-bearers were Grant Rath, Frank Andrews, Frank Cook, Wil- liam Cochrane, Kelso Streets, and Charles Johnson. Flower-hearers were Caryl Draper, William Count- er, G. Morley Counter, Clifford Proctor, Clarence Neilans and William Moffatt.. Mr. McEwan was born on De- cember 23, 1879 in Strathroy, the son of George McEwan and Amy Ward. He married Elizabeth Ellen Ross on March 4, 1907, and had lived here in Clinton for the past 52 years. For thirty years he was a tailor, and when times changed making this work no longer nec- essary he served as superintendent of Clinton Cemetery for 17 years. Prior to coming to Clinton he had lived in Mount Forest, where he joined the Garnet Lodge No. 139, Mount Forest, and remained a member for 50 years. For short periods he belonged to the Canadian Order of Foresters No. 16, Clinton and also Murphy Or- ange Lodge No. 710, Clinton. Mr. McEwan served the town as councillor for two years; also was a member of the Clinton Citi- zens Band, the Clinton Fire Dep- artment, and worked with the Clin- ton Baseball teams. Surviving are three sons: Ross, Frank and Harry all of Clinton; two brothers, John, Porcupine Plains, Sask.; Gordon, Eugene, Or- egon; four grandsons. Friends attended the funeral from Mancelona, Mich.; Ferndale, Mich.; Eugene, Oregon; London and Woodstock, as well as locally.
