Monet Shows Pioneer Park at Bayfield
THIS MODEL of the Pioneer Park located
in Bayfield, was made by 14. H. Ormond, a
retired engineer, resident In the lake village,
with the purpose of illustrating the work done
so far by the Pioneer Park Association. This
volunteer group recently undertook the task of
reclaiming the beach. By draining the area,
just at the top of the cliff (shown on the model)
the water was intercepted and was led to the
lake through the pipe at far right. The cliff is
no longer softening. As. soon as a stable slope
has been made, danger , of erosion will dis-
appear. Piling driven into the lakefront in
1952 is gradually bringing about the deposit of
more sand on the beach widening it considerably.
The north side of the property is closest to
the front of this picture. Movies are shown at
the lakeside every Monday and Wednesday even-
ing with a voluntary collection made to help
finance the work of the park.
