During the months of May, June and July, no dog is permitted to run at large, When impounded by the dog catcher, the animals will be kept for 48 hours, and if not picked up by that time, with impounding fee paid, they will be destroyed. Building permits were authoriz- ed as follows; Hector Kingswell, garage, $400; Roy Tyndall, ent- rance, $150; B. Dupee, addition, $700; F, McDonald, sunporch, $100; R. Clifford, alterations, $100; W. McKinnon, alterations, $4,000; G. Rumball, garage, $500; Karl Skov, garage, $300; Knox Wil- liams, office, $250. Council discussed the practice of somefolk in dumping garbage and trash on the river bank, caus- ing discomfort to those living in the area, but decided since it was being done on private property, and some before the residences were built, that they could do little to help. Lavis Contracting Company was given the contract of paving Rat- tenbury and Princess Streets, and Percival, if possible financially, at the rate of $6.50 per ton of hot mix, and 30 cents per linear foot for the gutter. Letters were received from the Public School Board requesting that Percival Street be paved, both for safety and welfare of the pup- ils, to control dirt and dust prob- lem of the caretaker, and to im- prove the appearance of the school and grounds; the CDCI board wished for the pavers to bring the surface up to the existing black top at the front of the collegiate. The mayor was authorized to issue a warrant instructing the clerk to sell all properties with tax arrears of three years or over. A motion was passed to place waterworks surplus in the amount of $4,000 into Town of Clinton debentures. A letter was authorized to go to the Credit Union advising them that the town is prepared to lay sidewalk on Ontario Street in front of the office, hut the Credit Union would be responsible for the work on William Street side. McCullough rhone HI/ 2-7418 Mission Band The Wilhelmine Mission Band, Holmesville United Church, held their regular meeting in the school with Paul Cudmore in charge. The meeting opened with a hymn fol- lowed by the Mission. Band Pur- pose. The Scripture. lesson was read by William Hoggart and Mil- ton McClinchey gave the prayer. The president, Robert Norman, took the business period. James McCullough read a Temperance story. Fred Tyndall read a poem and Marion Liebold read a peace story. The teacher of the school, Miss Ann Shaddock, was asked to come forward, and Paul Cudmore read the address. On behalf of the Mission Band, Janice Trewartha presented Miss Shaddock with an engraved silver candy basket. Miss Shaddock thanked everyone for their thoughtfulness and kindness. The study books were read by Mrs. J. Yeo and Miss Ann Shad- dock, and the meeting closed with a hymn and prayer. Mr. and Mrs. L. E, Morton and Mr. and Mrs. Frank McCullough were in Wyandotte, Mich., last weekend. Trewartha mentioned the intention of the pro- vincial government to install a large scale at the government gravel pit near Holmesville, to be used in weighing large trucks.
