Busy at Quilts
Mrs. J. B. Lavis presided for
the Woman's Association meeting
in the -church parlour on Tuesday
afternoon, when Mrs. Charles El-
liott was in charge of the devo-
tions. The theme. was "Medita-
tion." Mrs, E. Riadford was at
the piano. Mrs. B. Olde gave the
secretary's report, and Mrs. C.
Proctor gave the treasurer's re-
port.
The quilt committee has been
quite busy, with more quilts to
be quilted soon, 34 calls on. sick
and shut-ins had been made last
month. Flowers had been sent to
them, and thank-yeti's were read
by Mrs. C. Elliott.
Mrs. Olde announced the Flor-
ence Nightingale Tea and Open
House at the hospital, and Nurs-
es' Residence on Sunday after-
noon, May 11.
Plans were made to entertain
the ladies of Brucefield and Turn-
er's Woman's Association at the
June meeting, and to withdraw
those in July and August:
Mrs. Ray Fear gave two read-
ings entitled "Little Towns of
Canada" and "Mother's Party
Dress." Mrs. Don Symons sang a
solo accompanied by Miss E. Wil-
ts& at the piano. Two accordion
solos by Betty Ann Gibbings were
followed' by a piano duet by Miss
E. Wiltse and Mrs, E. Radford.
After 'the Mizpah benediction
lunch was served by the 'ladies of
St. Andrew's Ward.

sheep killed by dogs on valuation
by Alex McGregor,
Many years ago a common "tire-
atment" for skin cancer in Eng-
land was to tie a live toad to the
tumour. Of course, it did no good.
Today 95 percent of skin cancers
are cured when treated early with
X-ray or surgery,

ing for an increase in pay to the
Road Superintendent to $1.00 Per
hour was passed and will be sub-
mitted to the Minister of High-
ways for approval.
