Sounds good! Logical, too! You see the normal job of the
kidneys is to remove excess wastes and acids
-so often the cause of backache-from the
system. Dodd's Kidney Pills stimulate the
kidneys in this function and so may bring you
that welcome relief from backache they have
many others. 'Cry just 3-a-day. You can depend

TERRIFIC BRAKE HEAT
AND WEAR FACTORS
are the problems of today's brakes.
Imagine pressing your hand against a brake drum at
sixty miles an hour!
The heat generated is such that it could make a cheap
brake lining completely useless after one fast stop!
Raybestos brake linings are specially made to resist
heat and wear-for your safety.

(By Bruce Hutchison)
Any article or book by Bruce
Hutchison commands 'attention.
He one of the contemporary
writers in Canada' who sees his
country and, it glowing future
.as few are able to dis-
cern it and he describes it
in 'simple but very vivid language.
This' book is a sequel to one he
wrote about 13 years ago, "The
Unknown, Country." For the se-
cond time Hutchison journeys
across Canada, talking to people
about historical events or current
topics. He has the ability to ac-
cumulate masses 'of facts and as-
sess their true worth and present
the results in a very readable
form. Besides the chapters. on
the provinces are brief essays, on
some phase of Canadian life and
they tell of his deep abiding love
for his country and his complete
confidence in' its future,
A WINTER AWAY
(By Elizabeth Fair)
Young Norahs family went to
Africa and it was decided that
she should live with 'Cousin' Alice
in 'the country. Fortunately she
obtaines: a secretarial post with
elderly Mr, Fentston, who lives
nearby. Cousin Alice has a com-
panion, Miss 'Conway, and 'they
share the affections of a dog, who
has learned 'to answer to. Wilbra-
ham when; one mistress calls and
to Puppy when the 'other mistress
wants his attention. Old 1V1,
which is the name' by which Mar-
ius Fel-Aston, is, known: in the vil-
lage., is considered eccentric. He
seems to, prefer cobwebs to pay-
ing competent servants and does
not seem able to keep the peace
with his son, Oliver, or his nep-
hew, Charles. All these charact-
ers, plus a few more, weave a tale
that lovers 'of books by Elizabeth
Fair wild thoroughly enjoy. Other
books in the library by this auth-
or are, Bramton Wick and The
Native Heath.
KIRBY'S GANDER
(B y Jon Patrick Gillese)
This is a. collection of stories
about birds and animals for boys
who like' 'tales of the woods, lakes
and lonely places. These stories
have a freshness and flavor all
their own that make them differ-
ent to the usual nature story.
The story that gives the book its
name, is., ,oboe a gander, whom
Kirby called Abraham. Kirby
was on a flight north and eir-
cuinstances forced him to land
his' plane in the muskeg. After
three weeks of watching waiting,
he dedided that immediate rescue'
was out of the question and pre-
pared to make the most of his
long wait. He had noticed the
geese and proceeded to make
friends with them in his own
way. has, many unforgettable
experiences with the geese before
he is' rescued in the fall. The
book also contain's stories of YoUng eagles, coyotes, racoons, bears,
etc., which help to make us fam-
iliar with 'the life and 'habits of
these inhabitants, of mountain,
plain' and forest.
