homes and ourselves, is the best
advice. For with the former, at
least, it saves us from that mad
annual ceilling-to-floor and wall-to-
wall uprooting that must go on
from the top-to-bottom and from
front-door-toeback. In other words,
spring cleaning is out in modern
living, Or perhaps rather, spring
cleaning should be out! In fact,
maybe the very event of spring
drives us to it. Ours not to won-
der why. but ours to jumpin-
to the breach with a fay handy
suggestions for spring cleaning
quickies.
These are slightly hurry-up dish-
es, as you'd imagine but good en-
ough that they'll probably be re-
peaters, long past the days when
the duster 'n detergent team star-
red far a stretch. Each of these
spring cleaning quickies is built
around milk, for that's the dairy
food that's so convenient it's bound
to be on hand come spring clean-
ing, or fall. Too, milk gives extra
energy, and best of all does 'a lot
to help keep—nerves smooth, in-
stead of frayed and jangling.
There's a soup . , . Onion Milk
Soup, made quickly by adding con-
densed onion soup to a sauce made
smooth and velvety with milk.
Condensed onion soup is something
new on your grocer's shelves, and
so of course, is this recipe for us-
ing it. Spring Supper Bake may
look like a long recipe, but that's
the April Fool part of it, because
it's qUite a swift little number to
whip up. It's a casserole of
ground beef and vegetables, seas-
onings, milk and soup. Make it
right in your frying pan with the
ovenproof handles and ring it
round with fluffy Parsley Biscuits
made with milk and a mix. And
save the Rhubarb Surprise Pud-
ding for another of those all out
cleaning days (you're bound to
need more than one) and take a
break part way through to mix up
this end-of-meal tree. Rhubarb,
synonymous with spring, will be
simply wonderful in this pudding
recipe that combines rhubarb and
crisp bran cereal . . with a sauce
poured atop before baking that
comes out from the oven hidden
by the pudding like a sauce. wrong
