Samuel T. Young
Samuel Thomas Young died on
Saturday, March :29, in Victoria
Hospital, London, where he had
been a Patient for some time. He
was in his 77th Yeer,
He jived in West Wawanosh township before moving to Order-
iels a few years ago. He was a me neber Of 'Victoria Street United
Church, Goderich.
Surviving are his nvife, the for-
mer Louisa ABM; two daughters,
Mrs, Russell, (13,ita)' Reed, Dnngan-
non; Mra. Glen (Edna) Reithlay,
LOndon; one sister, Mrs. Clifford
Levy, Goderich; two brothers,
Cephus Young, Wingham; Marsh-
all Young, 'Clinton; and four
grandchildren.

Monday afternoon, March 31, with
burial in Colborne Cemetery.

Mrs. Melvin Webster was host-
ess on March 26 to the joint meet-
ing of the Woman's Association
and Woman's Missionary Society,

The WA president, Mrs: Lee
McConnell took charge of the bus-
iness period, and a thank you
card and donatio,n for the bake
sale were received from Mrs. Ings.
Some plans for the April meeting
were made and the delegates to
the spring annual meeting of the
WA Presbytenial to be held in
Wingham were appointed: Mrs.
Charles Reid' and Mrs. Gordon
Johnston.
Mrs. Anson ,Coleman, president
of the WMS took the chair. 20
calls to sick and shnt-ins were
reported. The ladies decided to
pack a bale for overseas at the
next meeting.
Mrs. T, J. Pitt was assisted by
Mrs. W. T. McAsh in conducting
,,the study period. Part of the
book "My Cup Runneth Osier"
was the story of the Rev. Dr.
Kim, Korea.
Kitchener, are spending a week
with Mr. and Mrs. Will Govier.
Mr. and Mrs, Norman White
and family, Sarnia, spent a few
days this week under the parental
roof.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Small left
on Monday for a month's vacation
in England with Mr. Small's fam-
ily connections.

guests Easter weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Cliff Saundercock and

Conveners of standing commit-

New Information
Branch Instituted
Agriculture Dept.
The Hon.,W. A. Goodfellow, Ont-
ario Minister of Agriculture, has
announced the formation of a new
branch of the Ontario Department
of Agriculture to.be known as the
Information Branch.
The purpose of the new branch
will be to co-ordinate and expand
the information services' from all
branches and institutions of the
Ontario Department of Agricult-
ure.
The new Information Branch
will proVide information services
to press, radio and television, and
be responsible for the publication
program of the Department. 0
The present Statistics and Pub-
lications Branch will be dissolved,
the „Statistics division to be ab-
sorbed by the Farm Economics
Branch and. the Publications div-
ision by the new Information Br-
anch.
Director of the new branch will
be Glen L. Warlow, who for the
past seven years has directed the
information program, of the Ont-
ario Agriculture College. He is a
native of Essex County, and a
graduate of the O.A.C. arid Wayne
University.

ular meeting on Monday night,
April 7. Hymn boards are being
presented to the Goshen Church.
Several members expressed their
intention of attending the Spring
Rally at Goderich on April 22.
United Church
On Palm Sunday the W1VLS of
Varna United Church gave an il-
lustrated service of song entitled
"Peter and the Resurrection", The
,pictures and readings were inter-
spersed with appropriate hymns.
Easter offering gifts were pres-
ented at this eyeing service.
Holy Week
The Rev. T. •J. Pitt conducted
services in the Goshen and Var,na
United Churches during Holy
Week on alternate nights, closing
with a service on Good Friday
at Varna.
Easter Day services were at-
tended by large congregations.
There' were appropriate contrib-
utions by the choirs and at both
services the Sacrament of the
Lord's Supper was celebrated.
