Going To England
The Rt. Rev. W. A. Townaliend,
Suffragan Bishop of Huron will
accompany the Bishop, the Rt,
Rev. George N, Luxton, to the
Lambeth Conference of 1958, to
be held in London, England.
Bishop Townshend has been in-
vited 'because of what the Huron
Church News describes as "spec,
ial experience in a number of
fields. 'There will be 31 attend-,
ing from Canaria. Dates for the
conference are from July 3 to
August 1.0, at Lambeth Palace,
residence of the Archbishop of

not attempt to enact canons, make
decisions binding on the church,
or define doctrine. The bishops
meet to take' common counsel and
they can and do pass resolutions.
But the resolutions have no leg-
al authority and in themselves
do not constitute the law or direct-
ly effect the practice of any chur-
ch. Any Anglican church can, how-
ever, embody advice of a Lambeth
conference in a law or administ-
rative action.
